Snow Patrol - Final Straw - Run Lyrics

Ranked #6,242 in Music, #173,531 overall

Snow Patrol -

'Run' is the hugely successful and popular track which appears in Snow Patrol's third album, Final Straw. The track 'Run' gave the band its first taste of mainstream success when it was brought out as a single back in 2004.

It reached number #5 in the UK charts at that time. It then re-entered the charts at number #28 four years later in November of 2008.

Many people bought Final Straw on the strength of this one incredible track, but were pleasantly surprised to find the whole album, track for track, an unique and stunning collection of music.

Here are the lyrics and official Youtube of Run by Snow Patrol and by Leona Lewis. Also included is a biography of Snow Patrol, with pictures and information on their other great albums.

Final Straw - Run

The amazing rendition of this track by Leona Lewis on the 'X Factor' in November 2008, gave this incredible song the boost it needed to make its resurgence. Leona's album 'Spirit' also stormed back into the charts at number #1 in 2008 purely off the back of this track, which is included in her album.

Leona first performed Run for Jo Whileys 'Live Lounge' for Radio 1 back in 2007. Run has also reached number one in the Irish Singles Chart in its first week of release, due to digital download sales alone.

Run is my Favourite track from the band. The sincerity and epic poignancy of lyrics and pureness of vocals give this track real emotional impact. As with all the Snow Patrol tracks, the video for Run is amazing and I have included it later on in this review. Also included here is the video of Leona Lewis singing her version of Run.

Snow Patrol - Run Lyrics

Snow Patrol - Run Lyrics

I'll sing it one last time for you
Then we really have to go
You've been the only thing that's right
In all I've done

And I can barely look at you
But every single time I do
I know we'll make it anywhere
Away from here

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

To think I might not see those eyes
Makes it so hard not to cry
And as we say our long goodbye
I nearly do

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Louder, louder
And we'll run for our lives
I can hardly speak I understand
Why you can't raise your voice to say

Slower, slower
We don't have time for that
All I want is to find an easier way
To get out of our little heads

Have heart my dear
We're bound to be afraid
Even if it's just for a few days
Making up for all this mess

Light up, light up
As if you have a choice
Even if you cannot hear my voice
I'll be right beside you dear

Snow Patrol Band Bio

Snow Patrol is a five-piece alternative rock band fronted by lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist Gary Lightbody which first formed back in 1994 in Dundee, Scotland. The band is currently based in Glasgow and signed to Polydor Records. To date the band has released five studio albums and had a number of successful singles from these albums, most notably 'Chasing Cars', and 'Run'.

The band's first studio album was released in 1998 under the title of 'Songs for Polarbears'. The title of the band's first album is a reference to their former name, Polar Bear. It was an interesting indie rock release from the band, since then the sound has changed a lot however and the Snow Patrol we now know today is very different to the Snow Patrol which was around back in 1998. The band has matured a lot over the years, improved incredibly, and always the band's sound has progressed and strengthened.

Second album 'When It's All Over We Still Have to Clear Up' was released in 2001, it was not until 2003 that real success came for the band however with the release of 'Final Straw' through Polydor Records. 'Final Straw' spawned a number of successful singles such as 'Spitting Games', 'Run', 'Chocolate', and 'How to be Dead'.

It was a brilliant breakthrough album for the band and one which really caused the mainstream music scene to take note of Snow Patrol. Snow Patrol was a name on the lips of many in 2003, nine years after the band first formed it was finally getting the public recognition it so richly deserved and Snow Patrol was now a commercially successful rock band.

Album Biography

Final Straw, the third album from Glasgow-based quintet Snow Patrol, is a darker, nastier and altogether bleaker beast than anything they've produced before. These are ostentatiously pop melodies that have been locked up in a basement, blindfolded over night and subjected to gleefully twisted torture and cruelty until they've squealed. The bruised, distorted (yet basically acoustic) "Wow" highlights this methodology best, producing an ugly princess of a song that sounds like U2 from the Achtung Baby era.

There's even hand clapping over a dangerously fuzzed-up guitar riff on "Tiny Little Fractures". Lead single "Spitting Games" is what the Thrills will sound like in 10 years time if a decade's worth of rock & roll excess takes its toll--it possesses the kind of catchy, fuzzed-up, demented bumblebee guitar hook that most bands spend their careers searching for.

When fourth album 'Eyes Open' was released in 2006, all eyes were on Snow Patrol to see if they could replicate the success of 'Final Straw'. As the world was introduced to 'Chasing Cars' it became very clear that not only had Snow Patrol replicated the success of studio album number three, but had in fact surpassed all expectation in coming up with something even more special than ever before. 'Chasing Cars' is one of the most brilliant rock tracks ever written, the lyrics are simply sublime and everything about the track is magnificent.

'Chasing Cars' is a hugely emotionally moving piece of music, a track with much significance to many, and an absolute lover's anthem. Snow Patrol's Gary Lightbody describes the track as 'the most pure and open love song I've ever written'. It is a stunning track with incredible lyrics.
'A Hundred Million Suns' is the latest album to have been released by Snow Patrol and was unleashed upon the world in October 2008, once more through Polydor Records. The album has sold well in the UK, made its mark in the US, and impressed Australia also.

Snow Patrol are an incredibly talented alternative rock quintet and for this Northern Irish/Scottish band the future looks to be supremely bright. Who knows what the future may hold in store for Snow Patrol, already the band has accomplished much, however, I feel that there's still plenty more to come.

In a league of their own, Snow Patrol deliver time after time with their understated melodies and poetical lyrics, giving them an individuality, charisma and huge stage presence. The sincerity of performance, conviction and poignancy of lyrics delivered by Gary Lightbody's distinctive voice are what appeal to me with this hugely talented band. ~
