Social Phobia
3 Things I did to get over it
Currently 5.3 million adult Americans let social phobia get in the way of living happily. Will you be one of them?
I used to have a small case of social phobia. I never seemed to fit in. I became less and less social and began to think I was boring or awkward because I couldn't seem to meet anyone. I eventually stopped socializing because I was too afraid. When I realized I'd become the opposite of who I wanted to be, I started forcing myself to socialize.
Here are 3 important conversational points I took to ending my social phobia and becoming a much happier person.
Point 1. Say "hi!". Sound enthusiastic!
Greeting someone is something we all do, all the time, and because of that, it does not need to be rehearshed. If you're happy to see someone, let them know by sounding like it!
Point 2. Is the conversation getting boring? Spruce it back up!
Don't let awkward silence happen. If you find that you and the person you're talking to can't find anything to talk about, say "So!" or something similar and change the topic to a fresh one.
Point 3. Offended someone? Just apologize and move on.
Apologizing is a good thing, but doing it too much is awkward. A simple "I'm sorry. it was just a joke." and a smile usually does the trick.
If the person is still angry at you, that person has no sense of humor.
Just remember there's a time and a place for everything, though.
DO NOT think about your conversations afterwards. It will only make you feel uncomfortable and if you find yourself doing it, just stop.
Social Phobia is something that can be a little difficult to get rid of or shake but it's more rewarding to get rid of it than to keep it.
If you remember and use the tips in this article and still don't meet anyone, then you're fine. Try socializing with someone else or socializing in a new environment.
Do anything and everything you can to get away from social phobia and you will be happy you did.
If this isn't enough and you want something more effective, I recommend SocialPhobiaCure.info
