THIS IS A MUST HAVE BOOK
The Mental Keys of Hitting by H.A. Dorfman
"Wherever he is in any given year, we find him and bring him in. The players wouldn't have it any other way. He 'opens doors' and provides insight like no one else. This book is vintage Dorfman. Every player and coach will have one." -- Pat Murphy, Head Baseball Coach, Arizona State University
"...promotes and focuses on a consistent and effective approach to hitting and the game of baseball. Not on the result." -- Merv Rettenmund, hitting coach, Atlanta Braves

A MUST READ FOR ANY HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETE
RECRUITING TIME LINE...YEAR BY YEAR
IF YOUR DAUGHTER IS A HIGH SCHOOL FRESHMAN:The best place to start as a freshman is to make sure you are on a travel team that gives you the best exposure. A team that has a GOLD level is best even if you are on a 14U or 16U to start.
IF YOUR DAUGHTER IS A HIGH SCHOOL SOPHOMORE:
Start a "resume" or "player profile" listing your daughter's athletic and academic accomplishments as well as contact information for her and her coaches.
IF YOUR DAUGHTER IS A HIGH SCHOOL JUNIOR:
Gear up for a lot of work. By now she should be on a
GOLD level team getting the best exposure in both the fall and summer. Make college lists. These lists should include schools that are academically easy and academically hard....athletically easy and athletically hard. Of course these levels are different for each player. What is hard for some might be easy for others. Start contacting coaches via email. Send them her profile and upcoming schedule. Make sure these emails come from her and not mom & dad. Make detailed notes as to who responds and who seems to have no interest. Update them each time you will be attending a tournament or showcase. Let them know your game times, etc. Slowly the list will start to dwindle down.
SUMMER GOING INTO SENIOR YEAR:
If you haven't already done so (if you haven't that is fine) start to visit the schools that have survived the first cut. Contact the coach and see if they are interested in meeting with you on your visit. Most will do so unless they are totally not interested. This is a great way to show that you are interested. Follow up with an email after the visit. Your list will be cut down again. Hopefully to the final 5 or so. Now, let the offers come in.
