Is this a new technology?
Solar/Wind Is It A Good Marriage?
You see solar energy is great, but it cannot be used 24 hours a day to collect sunlight. While you can store the energy gained during the 5-8 hours of sunlight, most people cannot afford the array size needed to store enough energy needs for a day. Now wind on the other hand is also great, but does not blow all the time. So what about combining the two? Take the 5-8 hours of sunlight that most places get, and combine that with the wind through out the day at your house. You will find as allot of people have, that between the two technologies you can store enough energy for a full day. Tie Me In, Pay Me Please.
In fact, in allot of the cases you will end up with excess energy, which can be sold back to the utilities company at the going rate. This is of course providing that you are grid tied. This simply means that you are still connected by power lines to the utility company of your area, but you make your own energy. So, to tie these two alternatives together in the most efficient manner possible, what is becoming common place is to literally tie them together. Instead of having a separate solar array from your windmill, people are attaching the two together. Not only does this take up, less space but also allows for only one set of current carrying cables.
So Whats Your Poison... I'll Have Solar Wind Power Please.
As a matter of fact some companies are now starting to incorporate solar arrays within their wind mill towers, or more to the point on them. So hopefully this gives you a couple of things to think about when the question arises, what do I use solar or wind? Why not take advantage of both, Solar Wind Power. Home Wind Power Resources
- Homemade WInd Turbines
- So you want to know how you can get a homemade wind turbine.
Well you need to look no further; I will show you a place that will give you what you are looking for... - Electrical Wind Power
- Small Electric Wind Power Systems can provide electricity for remote, off-grid sites, or right in town connected to the grid. Wind systems generally require more maintenance and need more attention than a solar-electric or micro hydro-electric system does.
- Home Wind Turbine
- There is many an option for a home wind turbine. I am sure many people are not aware, once upon a time wind power for home use was at best financially just a dream.
- Solar Wind Power
- The answer is an astounding no. While wind and solar power have always been with us, as long as we have been on this planet, it has never really been utilized together.
- Wind Power Generators
- Before considering any wind power generators, there are many things to think about. The most important question is; what are my energy needs?
- Wind Power Generator
- We all need power it is not an option, because the wind produces kinetic energy to produce electricity, there is no bi-product produced, which means no pollution.
- Wind Turbine Designs
- Wind Turbines are designed to exploit the energy from wind. Fundamental aerodynamics tells us, that we cannot extract all of the energy we capture from the wind.
- Wind Turbines Home
- Home wind turbines make power by spinning a generator. This generator is attached to a rotor. These three aerodynamic blades of the rotor spin when the wind hits them at there tangential angles.
