First, do not imbibe large amounts of caffeine, and do not drink coffee in the evening. Caffeine stimulates your brain. It is best if you can drink decaffeinated coffee instead. Don't take naps throughout the day as well. This will hinder you to sleep at night. Make sure you exercise in the morning or afternoon, though. Don't exercise in the evenings. On nights you do sleep, don't sleep in. Get up at your regular time, even on weekend. Sleeping in will cause you not to be able to sleep the next night. According to medical experts, foods high in sugar content can prevent you from getting a good night's sleep. A warm glass of tea with honey would also work in the same way. Drinking a glass of warm milk will also help you to give you restful sleep. Milk has tryptophan, According to Medline Plus Encyclopedia, Tryptophan is an amino acid needed for normal growth in infants and for nitrogen balance in adults. It is an essential amino acid, which means your body cannot produce it -- you must get it from your diet and it is a chemical that helps the brain ease into sleep mode. If you go to bed and cannot fall asleep for 15-20 minutes, get up and do a quiet activity, such as reading or watching television, try this for 15-30 minutes and then go back to bed. Sometimes laying in bed trying to fall asleep can be frustrating and cause you not to be able to fall asleep. Keep your bedroom for sleep. Don't work in bed, watch television or eat in bed. Try drinking a cup of chamomile tea. Just take before bed. This will enable to have a great sleep during the night.
