It's nice before you drop your hard earned money to know what other people think of the product once they've owned and used it for a while. Here are some real reviews from people who own the Sonos S5 ZonePlayer.

Just got the S5 about an hour ago. Setup couldn't be easier. Step 1 - connect the power cord to an power outlet. Step 2 - hit the Mute and + button to get the S5 added as a new zone, Step 3 - hmmm....I don't think there is one. Just hit play and enjoy pure bliss.

This is my 4th Zone player (see my other gushing review of the Sonos system on the Sonos bundle page), and anytime my wife asks, "how many of these white boxes you really need?", the answer is always "one more".

Portability is the key feature of S5. Moving it from Kitchen to backdeck is just a matter of unplugging the power cord and replugging at the new location. It's all in one box. And the sound quality is not bad either. With all 4 zone players on party mode - some connected to very expensive Klipsch towers - I have ran around to compare the sound quality at various locations. The verdict - this little guy stacks up nicely against the big boys.

And the iPhone controller is not too shabby either. Don't see the need to buy the new touch controller (CR200).

I have a 5 zone Sonos system, which I love, but have always been frustrated with the fact that the zoneplayers needed to be hooked up to either an existing stereo system or some external speakers. I've found a few workarounds...in my kitchen I hooked up a zoneplayer to a Bose Wave Radio. In my bathroom I've hooked up a zoneplayer directly to some speakers, but that left a mess of wires.
My other nitpick is about my guest bedroom. Even though I have a zoneplayer hooked up to a nice stereo system, guests who are unfamiliar with the system sometimes don't understand that they need to play songs and ALSO set the stereo to the right input.

Just got my S5 today, and it really solves these problems.

Setup took under 2 minutes. I replaced the zoneplayer and speaker system in my bathroom with the S5 and it sounds great. Music starts playing right away...no confusion for guests who don't know what Sonos is or how to work it (aka my parents.)

Now my only dilemma is how many ZP's to add or replace with this much easier/better option.

Also the new remote is a major upgrade. Between the S5 and the CR200, Sonos has dramatically improved the usability and value of the overall system.
