Sony HTSS360 - The Best Home Theater System?

The Sony HTSS360 is a surround sound home theater system that is optimized for HD or high definition experience. Most of the best systems are nowadays. And this is something you want to consider. Any home theater system that you buy should be optimized and at least capable of high definition. I mean really... it's 2010 already :O)

The Sony HTSS360 also has Blu Ray disc DVD player which if you haven't experienced does really add a greater dimensional depth to the home theater experience. This system also features a one cable plug-in to hook up for your HD sources which is very handy and helpful.

You also get easy switching from your HDMI cables and with one click you can go from your DVD to PS3 or even your tuner. The nice thing with HDMI (High Definition Media Interface) cable is that it combines 19 cables into a single USB type of wire. This helps it achieve a bandwidth of 5Gbps (Gigabits per second) which is twice as fast than what you need for multi-channel audio and video. The idea here is that this should last you some time.

I'm a guy that sees the world's cup as half full, that's why I like to start with the pros of anything and in this case that thing is the Sony HTSS360. Okay, lets get right into the pros:

1. Uses Bravia
Bravia is Sony's patented high def technology, it is an acronym for Best Resolution Audio Visual Integrated Architecture. Quite a mouthful. I'm not going to go into a full explanation of what Bravia technology is, I don't quite understand it fully myself, but Sony has been a leader in this field for some time. The great thing about this is that it now includes Bravia sync, so you only need one remote control to play all of your equipment. And in many instances you only need one click. For example if you click play the remote will turn on the TV select the DVD, turn on your audio components and start your movie for you. Cool huh?

2. Easy Setup
This is a Sony product after all. The setup is super easy as you would expect. Especially with the HDMI cables. Pretty much plug n' play.

3. 3 Count 'Em HDMI Inputs
For this price range, I was surprised to find a home theater system with an HDMI input... let alone 3. This is super convenient for the future if you think you might expand or tweak your own set up down the road.

4. Quality at a Great Price
Sony is renowned for their high end products and pretty high prices too. But you get quality with that. The Sony HTSS360 seems to be the stepchild, in that it comes from the same parents but the price is way lower than what you'd expect for a Sony.

Yeah folks, there are some drawbacks with the Sony HTSS360 that should be noted. Here they are:

1.Bass
I'd just wish for a little more bass from this system. But for that you either have to add a different subwoofer like the Yamaha YST-SW216BL or you have to pay over a thousand bucks.

2. Proprietary wiring
This is related to the bass. You can add a different subwoofer like I suggested, but you'll have to get different aftermarket plug in order to make it work. Not a huge biggie but a bit of a pain in the butt.
