Books are always better!

missbat says:

Although I enjoy the TV version, I started with the books way before there was even talk of a TV series. The books explore the characters more and aren't as explicitly graphic. The plot has taken a lot longer to develop and it's hard to do that with television and keep your audience.

TamaraLWaters says:

Love the books, the show's okay. I generally don't like the movies or shows made from books because they change too much.

Chelle26 says:

It's not that I haven't been enjoying the TV show, it's simply that the way they say "Sookie", well it just took me a while to get over. I have a major problems with most movies, tv shows, whatever the case may be. However, this is the one of the better ones I've seen. I personally approve. :)

jagsag says:

I think the books are better however there is nothing like seeing something you've dreamed up in your mind brought to life. The books are much more detailed and I think tell an amazing story. I really hope she does more books. I can't wait to see next season of True Blood as well.

1sassy1 says:

The books are so much better

I like the tv show way better!

SudokuNut says:

I love the books but have to say I love seeing some GOOD vampire related TV for a change. Been a long time IMHO!

rms says:

Since I havn't read all the books yet, I gotta say that I really love the Trueblood tv show. I may have to come back and change my vote later though!

Anne Rice on Trueblood

Anne Rice: "Let me add that Stephen Moyer as Bill makes a marvelous vampire in True Blood. What's so marvelous about this series is the mixture of serious material with witty and satirical material. The series perhaps has too much sex and violence for young adults, but it is wonderful fun and very absorbing. It's full of surprises. I'm hooked. I've ordered the novels by Charlaine Harris."

"Having an affair with a vampire has one main benefit for Sookie. Her predilection for reading minds doesn't seem to work with him. But as is common with vampires, violence follows in his wake, and she becomes afraid that she might be more than just a spectator."

What Do You think of Sookie's Powers of Telepathy?

Would you like to be able to hear what (almost) everyone is thinking?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

Yes because . . .

missbat says:

If it came with an "OFF" button, sure. Who wouldn't want to know what someone really thinks?

patricia says:

yes

Chelle26 says:

I'd like to be able to control it. If I didn't have control, it would be problem. However, I'd love to know what people are thinking sometimes. This would be my superpower if I had one. And to think, all I need is a little fairy heritage.

hmsweaver says:

I agree that it would probably be more of a curse most of the time, but it has come in handy for Sookie on more than one occasion! I don't know, but maybe it would be worth it, if it could be controlled when not needed. :-)

No way because . . .

KimGiancaterino says:

Probably not. Wasn't there a Twilight Zone episode about this?

Treasures-By-Brenda says:

No way...that's pretty scary!

karanta says:

No - I would not like to hear that all

Mickie_G says:

Absolutely NOT. I am way too sensitive.

SudokuNut says:

Err...no! I dread to think what is in the minds of some of the people who cross my path on a daily basis!

spirituality says:

I would imagine that it's way too much chatter. My own head has enough chatter for me to listen to.

Book Five - Dead as a Doornail

"This time around, she's involved in the machinations of the Were-people, whose pack leader has just passed away. -Alcide Herveaux asks her to accompany him to the funeral, where Alcide's father declares his candidacy against a slimy, calculating rival. Angry at being drawn into the conflict, Sookie can't distance herself entirely, because a sniper has been taking shots at Were-people, and the community suspects Sookie's brother, Jason, a new shape-shifter. Sookie's love life is every bit as complicated as usual, and her collection of would-be beaux continues to grow."

Book Six - Definitely Dead

"In bestseller Harris's perky sixth Southern Vampire novel to star Sookie Stackhouse (after 2005's Dead as a Doornail), the telepathic waitress of Bon Temps, La., is off to (pre-hurricane) New Orleans to close out her dead cousin Hadley's apartment. Hadley's death six weeks earlier had been unexpected, since, as a vampire, she was already dead. Still, she'd led a lively existence as the main squeeze of the Queen of Louisiana, an omnisexual vampire, whose political marriage to the King of Arkansas occurred the night before Hadley's demise. Sookie and Amelia Broadway, Hadley's landlady and a pretty cool witch, immediately discover a mess of trouble left behind in Hadley's closet, and Sookie's soon neck-deep in even more."

Book Seven - All Together Dead

Sookie knows the queen is innocent, but she's hardly prepared for other shocking murders, not to mention protests by the Fellowship of the Sun, a right-wing antivampire movement. Her sleuthing skills, along with those of her new telepath friend, Barry the Bellboy, are put to the extreme test."

What do you think of Trueblood's Sookie?

Is Anna Paquin doing a good job playing Sookie Stackhouse?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

Yes. Anna Paquin is excellent as Sookie Stackhouse!

patricia garces says:

i love her no one could ever play her the way that anna does. its a perfect match...

says:

Amazing job! She can be so funny; love the accent.

MzAnonymous1 says:

I will be glad when they bring the show back to Hbo

shanna williams says:

I think the sookie in true blood is very right. She seductive , funny, and a real eye pleaser. I love everything about her. She's just right.

amitkish says:

I think she's great. The only issue I have and I think the books portray Sookie as being smarter than Anna plays the character but as time goes on in the HBO series, I think we will see the way her mind works and the way she can figure out things.

No Way! Anna Paquin is not a good representaiton of the Sookie I know and love from the Southern Vampire Mystery Novels!

ChloeComfort says:

From the one episode I saw - not really.

I never was into vampire stories until I got hooked into Twilight, and now I'm zooming through the Sookie books! Something so fun about the fantasy, and the combination of romance, magic, and danger... My family lived in Louisiana for a while, and I can picture the scenery while I'm reading. What will I read when I've finished off the Stackhouse stories? Five stars and a new favorite lens! :-)
