If you watched the television series Seinfeld during it's tenure on television, were awake during the 90's, or payed any attention whatsoever to pop-culture references, then you have undoubtedly heard the quote "No soup for you!" from the aptly-named "Soup Nazi" from the sitcom Seinfeld. The Soup Nazi, or the Soupman, supposedly made the most delicious soup in New York City but was quite temperamental about the rules governing his soup restaurant.
Well, it turns out that the Soupman is not a completely fictional character after all-his name is Al Yeganah, and he is not as stringent as depicted on the show, you need not follow arcane rules in the soup line or risk banishment. Al Yeganah opened the original soup shop, Soup Kitchen International, in New York City in 1984 and still runs it today.
Through his wonderful recipes developed at Soup Kitchen International, Al Yeganah set the standard for delicious soups. Now there is an original Soupman: Minneapolis, including all of the same ingredients, soups, and service. The Mpls Soupman restaurant brings to Minnesota the same delicious tastes and commitment to excellence that the original Soup Kitchen International showcased in New York.
This means that hungry soup lovers all over Minneapolis now have somewhere that they can satisfy their cravings!
