I took delivery a short while ago of the Southcourt Package, and to be honest I was a bit disappointed. To me £595 seems a bit steep for what is in essence a printed book, a couple of 10 year old templates, and a management software that is little more than a trial. When you phone them a chap called Mike Hathaway bleats on about the complete Southcourt Business Package, but I think he is really ripping the piss if he thinks that in today's world this is complete.
There is better stuff at similar prices
I have to be honest and say that I wish I had bought the package at www.letsdolettings.co.uk instead of the Southcourt Letting Package which sounded very similar. The only difference when I got mine was that the guy selling the lets do lettings package who I think was called Andrew had started his letting agency from scratch 2 years ago. He told me that this was an advantage because his info was bang up to date and he could really tell you how to do things now and not 20 years ago.
When I started reading the Southcourt Property package, that was when it first hit me that Andrew was probably right. To illustrate my point let me give you some text directly from the manual (Page 17) "The private rental sector has been subject to a great deal of statutory intervention since the period of the First World War. The first Rent act in 1915 (the Increase of Rent and Mortgage Interest (War Restrictions) Act 1915) was passed as a temporary measure following agitation among Clydeside shipping workers over rent rises." Now I have heard about padding things out a bit, but the first world war? Is he really serious and up to date?
