Teach Your Children Spanish Through Song

When I think of Spanish, I think of my mother singing fun children songs to my siblings and I. This is how I learned to love and appreciate the Spanish language. I want my children to learn, love and appreciate Spanish too.

I have found the easiest way to teach my kids Spanish is with song, so I have put together a lens of resources for Spanish songs for children and other Spanish aides for children learning Spanish.

Take a look at the songs below. You may know them already. You may learn a few new ones. If you don't already know Spanish you may learn some here with your children. Whatever happens. Enjoy and happy Spanish!

Some of The Benefit of Learning A Different Language

There are many benefits to learning a second (third or more) language. Some of these benefits are:

*more job opportunities for people who are bilingual

*enhanced understanding of different cultures

*improved communications skills

*opportunities to help others communicate (translate for them)

A Few of the Spanish Songs My Mother Sang To Me

Now To My Children Too

Sana Sana

Sana, sana,
colita de rana,
Si no sanas hoy,
sanaras mañana.

Note: When my mom sang this song her last two lines had lyrics about farting. It always made me laugh.

Los Pollitos

Los pollitos dicen,
pío, pío, pío,
cuando tienen hambre,
cuando tienen frío.

La gallina busca
el maíz y el trigo,
les da la comida
y les presta abrigo.

Bajo sus dos alas
se están quietecitos,
y hasta el otro día
duermen calentitos.

Mas al día siguiente,
corren los pollitos,
contentos y alegres,
¡buscan gusanitos!

Un elefante se balanceaba

Un elefante se balanceaba
sobre la tela de una araña,
como veía que resistía
fue a llamar a otro elefante.

Dos elefantes se balanceaban,
sobre la tela de una araña,
como veían que resistía
fueron a llamar a otro elefante.

Tres elefantes...
Cuatro elefantes...
etc....

I sing this one to my children now and they almost know it by heart.

De colores

De colores, de colores,
Se visten los campos
En la primavera.
De colores, de colores,
Son los pajaritos
Que vienen de afuera.
De colores, de colores,
Es el arco iris que vemos lucir.
Y por eso los grandes amores
De muchos colores
Me gustan a mi.

This is a beautiful song
