Our Story Begins...
Speed Racer: The Next Generation begins when Speed Jr. leaves the orphanage where he was hidden and enters the Racer Family Academy racing school where his brother, X, is already a student. Speed has no car and no knowledge of his true heritage. After his first few days at the academy he learns he's Speed Racer's son, X's brother, and Headmaster Spritle's nephew.
Speed, Conor and Lucy find the wreck of the Mach 5 and rebuild it for Speed to use at school. The Mach 5 is wrecked the first time Speed races in it, but the Mach 5's key leads Speed, Conor and Lucy to a chip hidden in the wreckage. The chip contains the design plans for the Mach 6's engine. The Mach 6 is a hybrid car, not running strictly on gasoline.
X wins a race to get Speed all the parts he needs to build the Mach 6, and Conor (the best mechanic in the world) builds it for Speed to drive.
Speed and X decide it's not too bad having a brother and promise to watch each others backs because they both have the feeling someone is out to get Speed and destroy the Mach 6.
The Racer Family academy has some amazing teaching tools, the most important of which is the virtual race track.

Theme Song Lyrics
Here he comes
Her comes Speed Racer
He's a demon on wheels
He's a demon and he's gonna be chasin' after someone.
He's gainin' on you so you better look alive.
He's busy revvin' up a powerful Mach 5.
And when the odds are against him
And there's dangerous work to do
You bet your life Speed Racer
Will see it through.
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer, Go!
He's off and flyin' as he guns the car around the track
He's jammin' down the pedal like he's never comin' back
Adventure's waitin' just ahead.
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer
Go Speed Racer, Go!
Main Characters
Speed Racer, Jr. - Speed Racer's unknown, younger and hidden son. He first becomes known when he gets off the bus at the academy and Spritle learns he has the key to the Mach 5. He quickly gets overwhelmed with fame, from people stealing his laundry to everyone wanting his autograph. X helps him learn to deal with the fame game.X Racer - Speed Racer's elder son. He was already well-known on the racing scene when Speed Racer disappeared, so he was safe. X is a senior student at the academy and after finding out Speed is his brother, decides they've got to watch each others backs. Strange things keep happening to Speed inside the virtual race track, and they spill over onto the other drivers, X included.
Conor - Speed Racer's biggest fan and Speed Jr.'s roommate at the academy. He has a giant Speed Racer poster over his bed and has as many original Speed Racer collectibles as he can get. He even dresses like the original Speed Racer. Conor isn't a driver, he's a total geek and a fantastic mechanic and designer. He builds the Mach 6 for Speed and constantly watches out for him.
Lucy - the other member of Speed's pit crew. She's one of his best friends and watches out for him as well.
Chim-Chim - Conor's robotic chimp, named after Spritles real chimp from the original Speed Racer series.
Conor, Lucy and Chim-Chim are pictured above.
Spritle Racer - Speed Racer's brother and headmaster of the Racer Academy. Spritle seems clueless to Zile's continuous efforts to destroy the Mach 6 and harm Speed. Spritle is the only character who played in the original Speed Racer series. Peter Fernandez is Spritle's voice-over actor, and played Speed Racer's voice in the original series.
Annalise Zazik - Zile Zazik's mean daughter and X Racer's girlfriend. She hates Speed and hopes to cut off X and Speed's growing brotherly relationship.
Zile Zazik - Speed Racer, Sr. old nemesis and main, extremely rich benefactor of the Racer Academy. He constantly schemes to destroy the Mach 6 and Speed Jr. along with it. He would also like to remove Spritle as Headmaster, but hasn't succeeded.
Minor Characters

Jared and Jesse - Twin brothers who aren't too bright. Annalise's "friends" and yes-men.
