Nutritious and Incredibly Filling
Some times we just don't want meat. This dish gives the impression of meat without the meat. It looks like a real hamburger, cooks like real hamburger and tastes great.

The Ingredients
2 jalapenos diced1 small onion diced
1 19 oz can of black beans, lightly rinsed
1/2 cup bread crumbs
1/8 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1 egg

Having an indoor grill makes cooking on the fly simple. It's great for hot sandwiches or grill meats for one or two people. We use ours at least once a week.
The Directions
Coarsely chop black beans with food processor (a pastry blender works in a pinch too). It should be chunky, not mushy. Add onions, egg and jalapenos. In small bowl, mix bread crumbs with garlic powder and salt. Add to bean mixture and blend with spoon.
Shape mixture into four paddies. Apply to grill with your favorite barbecue sauce. I use an indoor grill with a preset temperature for ten minutes, turning after five.
Can also be done in pan on stove. I have not attempted cooking these on an outdoor grill as I'm not sure how well they would stay formed.

Tip:
Adding the egg is important. It keeps everything from falling apart when cooking.

- Sounds like a great idea for a burger, if you did want a little meat maybe throw in some ground turkey in the mix and some fresh spinach leaves on top, a dash of shredded pepper jack cheese and kapow! Instant heart burn, I mean mouth watering delight. :)
