We Attract What We Believe
So often people think that what happens to them is an accident or a 'coincidence,' but more and more people are waking up to the fact that our outer life is a reflection of our inner beliefs. This, at its core is what the "Law of Attraction" is. It could easily just be renamed "Looking in the Mirror" or "The law of reflection," but those names aren't nearly as fun!
In the spirit of the Law of Attraction, below are two spiritual stories and parables that really help to understand what is meant by "The Law of Attraction." If you like them, be sure to leave a comment with your thoughts!

Crossing The Water
A Spiritual Law of Attraction Story
Source: Spiritual Stories and ParablesA farmer's daughter duty was to carry fresh milk to customers in various villages had, one of whom was a priest. To reach his house, the milkmaid had to cross a good-sized stream. People crossed it by a sort of ferry raft, for a small fee.
One day the priest, who performed worship daily with the offering to God of fresh milk, finding it arrived very late, scolded the poor woman. "What can I do?" she said, "I start out early from my house, but I have to wait a long time for the boatman to come."
Then the priest said (pretending to be serious), "What! People have even walked across the ocean by repeating the name of God, and you can't cross this little river?" This milkmaid took him very seriously. From then on she brought the priest's milk punctually every morning. He became curious about it and asked her how it was that she was never late anymore.
"I cross the river repeating the name of the Lord," she replied, "just as you told me to do, without waiting for the ferry." The priest didn't believe her, and asked, "Can you show me this, how you cross the river on foot?" So they went together to the water and the milkmaid began to walk over it. Looking back, the woman saw that the priest had started to follow her and was floundering in the water.
"Sir!" she cried, "You are uttering the name of God, yet all the while you are holding up your clothes from getting wet. That is not trusting in God!"

A true spiritual story about the law of attraction... from a child's perspective
Original Source: Spiritual Stories and ParablesI didn't realize it, but as early as 3 years old I was already spiritually aware. Well, sort of. You see, I don't remember being psychic in any way, and I certainly don't remember reading spiritual books like The Power of Now or watching spiritual movies like Peaceful Warrior. I didn't feel some grand connection to the oneness of the Universe, and I certainly wasn't aware of any out of body experiences.
One thing I did grasp though, was the power of the mind and spirit. I remember a recurring nightmare in which a bat would chase and scare the living daylights out of me! Every night. Over, and over, and over. When I told my Catholic mother of this, she told me I had the power to control my dreams. The ironic thing is, even after having all these terrifying dreams, I actually believed her.
Mind you, this was a bat with a wingspan as wide as my body was tall, and its body at least three times larger. It was especially frightening to a child my age. The dream came again, and again the bat chased me just like before... only this time I remembered my mother's words of wisdom. Before I knew it, I was riding this bat the same way that Atreyu from "The Neverending Story" rides Falcor. In that moment, I felt true freedom. A freedom that was revealed to me at the age of three through an introductory understanding of the power of intention.
I never had that nightmare again.
I did, however, gain the realization that I could influence my world. This came to be much clearer to me the following year when I turned 4. You see, my family would go to church every week. I didn't understand, and I certainly didn't like being there, but I had to go. I grasped the idea that there was a "God" who listened to our prayers and answered them, but frankly he just didn't interest me all that much.
What did interest me though, was another entity from above: the Universe. Nightly, I would gaze up in awe and childlike wonder at the constellations, the Moon, the Milky Way, and the shooting stars of the Perseids. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was looking at God through a child's eyes. I also didn't realize that would be my first experience in the true power of intention.
Every night I would pray. Not to God, as my two older brothers and I had been taught in church and by my mother, but rather, I would pray to the stars. I have no idea why I asked for what I did, but I was passionate and diligent about it. It didn't matter if we were at home or in the car, I would find the stars and pray for Siamese twin sisters.
Yes, you heard me right: Siamese.
Of course, at that age I didn't realize what Siamese meant. I just thought I was asking for two sisters at the same time. I can only imagine the combination of adoration and heartbreak my parents felt as they had already decided not to have any more children, yet watched their 4 year old son so intent on such a beautiful dream.
Months passed with no answer. It is said that prayer is talking to God, and meditation is listening for the answer, but at that age I knew none of that. For a young child, that could be quite distressing to ask over and over and receive no response. Not for me though, and for months and months I continued to pray to the stars for my Siamese twin sisters. I had an unending source of confidence and faith that the stars were listening.
And they were.
After several months, my parents informed me that I would have a Gemini sister to share the world with. As I look back on my life, I realize that at 4 years old I was taught the powerful lesson of intention and that the Universe is always listening, even if we can't hear its response. To this day, when I look up at the stars at night, I whisper inside myself:
"Star light, star bright. First star I see tonight. Wish I may. Wish I might. Have this wish I wish tonight..."

- I know what you mean... that's why this is one of my favorite spiritual stories. It really gets to the heart of the matter, not just about the Law of Attraction... but about our humanity. The infamous "Do as I say, not as I do."
As for the Gemini sister... basically Gemini is from the horoscope, and in the horoscope it's basically the "twin." That's why it's so ironic that I wished for siamese twin sisters... and received metaphorical twin sisters.

- I had to chuckle at the first story because more often than not people do not practice what they preach! As a parent of three wonderful children, I have been humbled often when "teaching" them a lesson. It's really funny if you think about how often people complain about others doing exactly what they have themselves done! I have found in my research that qualities we tend to dislike in others are they same qualities we do not like in ourselves! Many will disagree with that and I believe that is because they REALLY just can't admit to themselves they possess that quality & dislike it or suppress/hide it because they don't want other people to "know" that part of them, or sometimes it is the lack of a quality they wish they had & don't so out of their envy they "put down" the other person with that quality. If we would all hold ourselves to the same standard as to which hold everyone else. If we all practice what we preach & believe what we preach! The world would be a much better place

"Let us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful."

- I really enjoyed Star Light Star Bright, and feel very in tune with that child's prayer. As child I sensed a heaviness around all the ritual and tradition in church services. I preferred to look at the stars which seemed a way to experience God more directly. And it is still the way for me to experience a sense of awe and mystery.
