Lensography of the 2nd Squidoo Giant Challenge for 2009 50/100
Ranked #22,498 in Culture & Society, #450,764 overall
Squid Giant Challenge at Squidoo ~ 2nd quarter 2009
The tradition at Squidoo is that once a lensmaster reaches a milestone number of lenses, they create a special "tribute" lens to mark the event. This lensography is dedicated to all those who, during the second Giant Challenge of 2009, reached either their 50th or 100th lens.
This is lens number 53 for me. Okay, I can see you sitting there scratching your head and wondering what is so special about the number 53. Actually, nothing. But, I started this lens on June 30, 2009 and intend on completeing it on the same day (a one day turn around is a rare feat for me). June 30 is the deadline to apply for Giant and Giant 100 for this turn. There's your milestone!
Or is it because I have a bit of Nigel in my blood.....
.....Just Because They Go To 11
PLEASE HELP!
At the time I published this, the lensography was incomplete. I scoured posts in many threads to find Challenge lensmasters' numbers 50 or 100.
If your lens number 50 or 100 is not on this list, please leave the link and what team you were on in my guestbook.
Thanks!
KUDOS!
First and foremost: All the Squidoo lensmasters who went for Giant and Giant 100 status during the second quarter 2009 Run For The Giants deserve a great round of applause!
I envy the quality of work that everyone produces, a level of excellence I hope to achieve at some point. YOU GUYS ROCK!
This lensography will feature the 50th or 100th lens created by everyone who participated in the Giant Challenge. The challenge was a spirited affair that led to some an amazing number of high quality lenses produced (as of the morning of June 30,2009, the count is at 1661) by 128 lensmasters on 5 teams.
HOLY CRAP! That's 13 lenses from each lensmaster!
We'll meet the teams and the wonderfully talented Giant Greeters as I countdown number 50 or 100 from each participant.
Enjoy!
For All Of Us Who Weren't Sure When It Began......
Joan's Jolly Judicious Jetsetters
Giant Greeter Joan4 has been kicking around these halls for nearly two years. She is constantly upbeat, especially when talking about her family (as you can see in the bulk of her 140 lenses.
One of the most wonderful things about Joan is that she makes me feel like I'm part of her extended family. I have to wonder how many hundreds of other Squids feel the same way.
Blue Ribbon
Giant Greeter JustBon-Crochet-Designs has been been an inspiration to watch as she cheers her team on and pitches in to up the level of spirit during the Challenge.
I consider Bonnie a close friend and will always hold her in the highest regard.
It Really Is The Hardest Part
Kab's Fab Squid Squad
Giant Greeter kab must have been one of the first through the doors here at Squidoo as she has been a member for nearly three years.
kab has some of the best qualities in a person I love, on or off line. She is a "roll your sleeves up and get the job done" kind of person that will never candy coat her opinions. Stellar!
Deep Inside WiWon HQ
This is a rare look inside the deep under ground bunker of the WiWon team HQ at NING.
"Plan R" refers to the cheerleading lens that was set-up to sabotage the other four teams in the challenge. "Nuclear Weapons" is code for Willow's whip.
I honestly didn't know that Willow was bald......
Rayjay's Rocking Squids
Squid Angel and Giant Greeter Rayjays has been a member for over two years and I have rarely ran across Rayjays in the eight months I've been kicking around.
I did find the friendly bantering between Rayjays and myself to be cool as heck and am looking forward to getting to know Rayjays better.
Willow's Wonder Squids
What can be said about a_willow that she doesn't say herself through her selfless dedication to Squidoo. The little Croat has a huge heart and massive drive.
She has been the number one Squid in my corner for longer than I can remember. An angel with a whip.
Independent Rogues
Okay, so everyone who applied for Giant or Giant 100 status did not join a team for one reason or another. I can respect that and am aknowledging them here in their own special corner.
Below you'll find the Rogue 50 or 100.
Cheer Up!
Didn't make it? Awwwwww.........Cheer Up? Use the Cleveland Browns' rallying cry, "There's always next time!"
Always look on the bright side of life!
Did you get there?
If you were on a team and made it, but your lens number 50 or 100 isn't listed please leave a link to it along with the team you were on and I'll list it here.
If you did make it, congrats! Blow off some steam.
Thanks!

- I tried for a second time applying for giant squid to no avail. I'm not giving up...I'm still updating the old ones on a regular basis and hope to get a couple more built before the next deadline.

- Hello Alex! Great Lens Idea! My 50th lens was: http://www.squidoo.com/everythingswindywinters & I was on JustBon's Blue Ribbon Squids team. (I probably deleted some lenses but this one works out to be #50 now) Thanks! Cheers!
