When we first started to think of ways to get traffic to our lenses we struggled to find a new way.

We had already got good traffic via the normal methods and also used some of our own tricks.

So, it was time to come up with something new... something that was only dedicated to Squidoo, something that covered not just the lens, but the lensmaster and group sections also... and something that rewarded those that used it.

One of the biggest methods of getting traffic to any site is by using Digg.com and we knew we could create a clone of that site.

But, we wanted to make it a little special and so was born SquidPoint

Digg.com works on a simple idea and that is to give ordinary people a platform to vote and discuss interesting websites.

The biggest addition to Digg.com was the digg this button. This allowed webmasters to place some code on their pages and show how many people dugg or voted on that page.

In the same way, SquidPoint is a platform where people can vote on your lens and discuss how good or bad it is.

Whilst your lens is the most important part of what you have to say on your chosen subject, SquidPoint also has a separate section for a Group you may wish to promote and even a section just for your Lensmaster Profile.

However, to place a vote button on your lens etc is not possible due to the code needed to display that button... Until NOW...

With SquidPoint you can place an image on your lens and as people vote you lens on SquidPoint that image will change to show the new number.

All you need to do is click on the image, login and vote. Give it a few minutes and you will see the image change to reflect your vote :)

Pick a username and password, enter your email address, then type in the number on the image and your done.

In true the Squidoo spirit of sharing we at SquidPoint share 50% of any adsense earnings made from your lens.

All you need to do is login into your SquidPoint.com account and click on My Profile then click 'Modify'

Now you can enter your Google Adsense ID and channel number.

Then every time you add a new Lens,Group or Lensmaster profile... your adsense code will be shown to the visitor (remember! - don't go clicking on your own ads).

When you have finished submitting your Lens, Group or Lensmaster Profile... simply click the share button arrow and a box will open that shows all the ways you can share your submission.

At the bottom of that box is some code that you can copy and paste to your Lens, Group or Profile.

That will show an image for people to click on. When they do so they will be taken directly to the page on SquidPoint where they can choose to vote or comment.

Don't forget... They also get to see your adsense code 50% of the time ;)

You can now select to have bigger vote buttons.

Just click the 'Share' arrow on your submission to get the code. They look like this.
