Squidoo - The importance of keyword research

Are you a Squidoo Newbie? Squidoo is a wonderful way to help bring traffic to your products or sites. It is a highly respected website in the eyes of Google and reflects that by awarding Squidoo Lenses top slots on highly searched words.

Many people are aware that Squidoo brings them a lot of traffic using search engines, but they truly do not understand the mechanics of it.

Squidoo Newbies - Use Squidoo Properly 

Many Squidoo Newbies believe that Squidoo is the way to earn online. They concetrate on using Squidoo as their make money site rather than just a tool in the entire process. Many people begin this way. I knew about Squidoo long before affiliate marketing and even created a few pathetic squidoo lenses in an attempt to learn the site, but only made a a couple dozen cents for all my work.

If you are new to Squidoo, you may be unaware that Squidoo rewards you financially for whatever position your lens may hold. So if you have a Squidoo lens that ranks in the top 2000 for a month, you will be compensated just over $10 by Squidoo.

Now, don't get me wrong, this is a very nice amount, but imagine if you could leverage that traffic to an ever larger way to make money? Squidoo should be considered the icing on the cake and not the actual dessert.

Keyword Research

If you are using Squidoo and you do not understand Keyword Research, you are losing out BIG TIME.

Why does keyword research matter for Squidoo? 

It is great that you are asking yourself this question. As soon as you realize that there is something called keyword research and that it is free to learn and use, then you have already helped your online business.

Basically, keyword research tells you how many people on the internet are looking for what you are advertising.

Isn't that powerful information?



Even more specifically, you can learn the exact wording they use in a search engine and then you can find out how many exact competitors you have.

Squidoo operates on these principles and you can jump ahead of the competition with only ten minutes of work.

Squidoo Newbie - My love affair with this site 

I have to be honest though. I have been a member of Squidoo for a year and built a few lenses during that time, but it wasn't until I joined Wealthy Affiliate and then later read One Week Marketing that I truly understood the value of Squidoo.

Squidoo to me was simply another place to build an online presence/blog or website, but after becoming better educated on Squidoo the website, I became an absolute addict.

I think Squidoo is a great platform to showcase a variety of things that you believe in, be it business, hobby or just plain personal stuff about yourself that you would like to share the like-minded individuals.

I think Squidoo is a combination of the two as well. That is, a money-maker as well as a tool. I'm fairly new to Squidoo, but I see its great potential in the blogging world.

As an SEO manager, Squidoo is a way for me to create highly optimized pages of relevant content. I use it mainly for hobbies or interests, but will also push out some items for clients too. While I've only made a few pages, I'm already a squidaholic... keep coming back for more! I agree that anything done online, whether it be Squidoo, SEO, SEM or SMO should be viewed as an arsenal of tools, not just a silver bullet. Great lens!

Squidoo works and it's great for affiliate marketing. If you pick the right offer and write from the heart you'll do well. One tip I do is use social bookmarking tools to promote your lens. Use sites like Digg and Furl and you'll see your lens rank high for your keywords. Update, update update!! That alone will get your lens higher and higher. Add tags to your lens and fill em up...3-5 is not enough. Check out my lenses and you'll know what I mean. Love this lens and thanks for making it.
