    I like your 'Tip #2 - Knowledge Is Key' I think many people discount their primary skill(s) and areas of knowledge because well they are kind of bored with them : that is a big mistake those things were so painfully acquired!! oh and Blessed

    Great lens with great advice!

    Speaking from very limited experience, having been writing online at sites like Squidoo for a little over six months now, people should really take the time to read your lens and take your tips to heart. Not giving up, being realistic, and learning from the best are a must!

    It's not always easy as the online world is constantly changing, but putting one foot in front of the other, no matter how frustrating it can be, is important.

    Love the lens...especially Tip 5 - Be realistic...I could not agree more! I too have worked many, many hours on Squidoo and also Zazzle and many would laugh for the last year while I was excited I had made 40 cents or even less on a sale...now, although I am by no means making as much as I could probably make, people seem to think I am here because I am "just lucky". Good for you for staying with it.

    I love this lens. I am really enjoying discovering all your tips and resources to strive to be better on Squidoo. My philosphy like you is that everything is a work in progress. I have an eBay store and we are constantly looking, checking, changing (or tweaking as we like to call it) our listings to make them better and I do the same with my lenses.     Great lens. I can't believe I haven't read it before. Given that one of my own highest-ranked lenses is "The Best Jobs for Introverts", I shouldn't be surprised that networking is the place on Squidoo where I tend to fall down. I guess I'll have to work on that one in 2011!

    Nice lens! I'm hanging in there and trying not to be discouraged -- like your example, I have 25 lenses and have only made a few dollars (not even the $5 you mentioned yet). There are so many lenses on Squidoo now that it's really hard for a newbie to succeed. I think about quitting at least once a week these days.

    Tnx for these tips, i got this squidoo thing all wrong. I am trying to explain to my gf (yes this is her bf actually on her account) how she has to work hard not just on making her products but on promoting it too and how she has to be active on forums and similar, everywhere where people from her niche are exchanging ideas or just getting to know each other. But she hates that, or is too shy, whatever. So yeah, now i have to do that for her along with seo stuff and my regular job, and i bet i look spammy from time to time just because i dont have enough time to read or do everything i should. I better find some time to rewrite her first lens these days. Tnx again for tips, keep up the good work :) .

    Another great lens you've written... and I like that you admit your purpose is to earn an income. Some lensmasters make that seem like it's a bad thing (aside from learning not to be spammy).

    Just came by again to Rate 5* on the lense. My stat was continuously showing I have rated 0 lenses... I did not understand what was going wrong .. Any way learnt the simple thing accidently...cound not find a FAQ question on that or I missed it .. probably no body needed that.. or I find lot of people show they rated 0 lenses.. may be they are as unaware as I am..     Well Bonnie, I'm not quite sure what Squidoo is, or how to use it.

    I'm certain that eventually I'll figure it out but in the meantime, just what is required to become a lensmaster?

    First off, Bonnie you're a lens pro. Excellent design, information, and organization.
    I recently added a couple of groups and posted in squid U, also started a blog last week so the wheels are rolling (it surprises me how much I enjoy writing on my blog, if you're curious please follow my squid ID to discover my blog).

    As lensmasters/webmasters we're all branding ourselves on the internet. Using information and our personal filter/touch we have become funnels that attract interest readers and after successfully creating a trusting relationship we can make product recommendations. It's hard to do that all on one page, and I think a blog our other outside links sources help strengthen our connection to readers.

    Like you, I started selling on eBay to get a little extra spending money. I was not looking to get rich, I was looking for something to do. (I retired at age 50 - way before time to do so) Oddly enough, during my research on how to sell on eBay, I discovered Squidoo. Like eBay, Squidoo is HARD work. Unlike eBay, Squidoo lets me be oh so creative.

    I Love this lens and have lensrolled it so I won't loose it!

    I like the nuts and bolts of this lens....a goodly amount to work with. It DOES take a lot of time to just keep my three little ole' lenses updated, but I'm definitely hooked.

    Hi...

    I'm a newbie here and I see now that I did my first lens all wrong. Maybe I'll get it corrected eventually. ;) But I really wanted to understand this lens, and I might be asking a strange question to some, but I am really interested to know what SAHM stands for?

    TY for this yet again! I love following you here and now that I know you are in twitter (ditto). I appreciate that you speak to people about the importance of moving forward and go ahead, enjoy writing some duds as you are learning.

    I am starting to put more ME into my lens and have started putting up a few that are just FUN. I don't want to be all business all of the time. I want people to know me. :)

    Attract friends here who have things in common with me. I'm inspired by Monday I bet I will have some cool new lens up. Thanks again!
