St. Anthony Patron Saint of Lost Things

I promised to make a lens in honor of Saint Anthony as my gratitude for finding a very important card that got lost in the confines of my home. You see I used it as a bookmark and I  didn't have any recollection or memory of what I had done with the card. Secondly I read a lot and you can just imagine the number of books in my home. So I went through practically everything in my house, my drawers, bookshelves and even envelopes full of important documents, but nothing doing. I tried to jog my memory the last time I had used it but there I drew a blank. I didn't have a recollection of putting the card away and all I could remember was I had used it a couple of months prior and that was all.

So I was getting exhausted and desperate when this thought came into my mind. "Why don't you invoke St. Anthony of Padua the saint of lost articles and see whether he might just find it, after all you have nothing to lose by asking". So I asked St. Anthony mentally without even saying a spoken prayer to locate this card for me and I promised to make a lens in honor of him and tell of his miraculous interventions.

Ten minutes later I went into my bedroom and picked one book flipped it over, nothing then I went to pick the next book in line but something made me skip it and I picked another book not in line and there the card dropped from the book and I shouted "You did it! You found the card for me." After searching for 3 hours for the lost card, I found it only 10 minutes after asking St. Anthony's help. That was fast and very powerful.

And so here I am typing away to keep my side of this unspoken bargain so that others can also seek this saint's powerful interventions and  learn more about  St. Anthony whom many have spoken so highly of throughout the history of the Church.

Saint Anthony of Padua is associated and invoked for the return of lost articles and missing persons. The reason he is invoked can be traced back  to an incident in his life. These patron saints intercede to God on our behalf.

Saint Anthony of Padua

the patron of lost articles, came from Portugal where he was born in Lisbon in 1195. He came from a wealthy but God-fearing family who wanted him to become a noble, but he had other plans for his life. He wanted to enter the religious life. He joined the Franciscan Order in 1221, when he was 26 years old after first joining and leaving the Augustinian Order. was only 36 years old when he died in 1231.

He was canonized in less than a year after his death and was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church on 16 January 1946 by Pope Pius XII.

His teaching of the Catholic Faith was simple and resounding that even the people who had little schooling and the innocent understood him.
He is called the "hammer of the Heretics". His great protection against the lies and deceits of the heretics in the matter of Christian doctrine was to utter, simply and innocently, the Holy Name of Mary.

was a gifted speaker, he attracted crowds everywhere he went, speaking in multiple tongues; legend says that even the fish loved to listen to him preaching. He was reknowned as a Wonder worker. One of the most beloved of saints, his images and statues are found everywhere.

The Church celebrates his feast day on 13th June.
