Amanda Tapping - Major Samantha Carter

Sam's Sensitive Side

Question about Amanda Tapping...

Should Major Samantha Carter have been given command of the SG1 when Jack O'Niell retired?

Should She?

Loading Fetching blurbs now... please stand by

Yes! She was certainly qualified.

LeCordonDude says:

Yes she should have. She should also marry me. True.

GypsyOwl says:

Is there any truth to the rumor that in Amanda Tapping's role in Stargate Continuum she is now a Brig. General? We will soon find out. The DVD is released today and we are looking forward to seeing it by this weekend.

johndilbeck says:

Absolutely, Sam Carter should have been given command. She had the experience, technical knowhow, and everything needed to lead SG1 immediately.

No! Commander Cameron Mitchell was the best choice.

mermaidlife says:

At the time I thought so but now I would say no because of her subsequent role in Sanctuary. It was better this way. Handsome men don't hurt.

johndilbeck says:

Of course not! Sam Carter has to do all the exposition that explains the pseudo-scientific gizmos and plot devices that make SG1 so exciting. How could she be the dashing, all-action, SG1 commander if she's always talking and explaining what's been happening, what's happening now, and what's going to happen to the bad guys so that SG1 wins again?

The Last Episode of Season 10 - No Spoilers!

It was a very sad day as the final episode of Season 10 came to a conclusion. Would we quietly move to Stargate Atlantis and ignore our agony?

The Ark of Truth to the Rescue!

The feature length conclusion to the Ori Saga was a delightful surprise. But, alas...it was only the Ori Saga that had been resolved.

Then we discovered, at Comic Con, as a quiet Amanda Tapping mentioned Stargate Continuum! Now we have waited and waited. We PreOrdered the DVD yesterday...it would be a very good idea to follow our lead because, it is clear that there are still a lot of SG1 Fans out there.

The Stargate Atlantis series is even more appealing since Amanda Tapping joined the cast.

Richard Dean Anderson - MacGyver

Richard Dean Anderson - MacGyver to General Jack O'Neill

The promotions were fitting for the Leader of SG-1. Richard Dean Anderson (formerly played MacGyver on a TV series by the same name), was Colonel (Seasons 1-8), Brigadier General (Season 8), Major General (Seasons 9 & 10), U.S.A.F.

Comentary (with Robert C. Cooper) reveiled that the writers were very careful when representing any of the Air Force personal. The Air Force watched closely and offered technical assistance where it was appropriate.

Ben Browder - Cameron Mitchell

Showdown - Ben Browder OR Richard Dean Anderson?

Who was your favorite SG1 Comander? Was it Ben Browder (Cameron Mitchell) OR Richard Dean Anderson (Jack O'Neill)?

Ben Browder OR Richard Dean Anderson?

Ben Browder

Richard Dean Anderson

mermaidlife says:

No contest

Serenia says:

RDA all the way. Cam Mitchell looks too much like Daniel Jackson. In some pics it is easy to get those 2 guys mixed up.

GypsyOwl says:

Agreed!

johndilbeck says:

With all the credit that Ben Browder deserves for portraying Cam Mitchell, there is no doubt in my mind that RDA is tops for playing Jack O'Neill (with two els - *wink*).

Nobody else can steal a scene or do so much with so little (as in picking up anything off a desk and looking at it) as Richard Dean Anderson.

I enjoy both of them, but RDA is the man.

Dr. Daniel Jackson - A Dynamic Part for an Actor

Troughout the series, Michael Shanks portrays an intellegent, sensitive, and courageos part. All of the parts in this dynamic work are complex and outstanding, yet, Michael Shanks stands out to me.

I like that he is always willing to say what he feels and what he thinks even when it may not be the poplular opinion. He also is so compassionate, you know that he would never harm anyone, and often finds alternative solutions to protecting the universe. I am curious what this character's part in the next feature film will be.

If I had to choose a favorite, it would be a toss up between Amanda Tapping (Major Samantha Carter) and Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson). Both are exceptional actors and the parts they play in these films and series are extraordinary.

Michael Shanks - Dr. Daniel Jackson

Showdown - Michael Shanks OR Corin Nemec

Who was your favorite translator? Michael Shanks (Dr. Daniel Jackson) OR Corin Nemec (Jonas Quinn)

Michael Shanks OR Corin Nemec

Michael Shanks

Serenia says:

Michael Shanks all the way

GypsyOwl says:

Yes! And, All of the original team will be in the Continuum it appears. Let me know when you get your rental from NetFlex.

johndilbeck says:

Michael Shanks is the winner here. I was very happy to see him come back to the show and continue portraying Dr. Daniel Jackson. It's been a pleasure watching him transform from a Kleenex snorting history nerd into a studly action hero who still knows more about history than anyone and who has the piercing intuition that only comes from the godlike abilities granted by the writers of SG1. *grin*

Corin Nemec

mermaidlife says:

ooh this is a hard one. ooh I'm only going to say Corin because he has no votes yet and it's a toss up for me.

I have watched all the movies and all seasons of SG1 about three or four times straight through. We have an annual SCI FI marathon in our house and SG1 is in the rotation along with Babylon 5! We have other favorites but these two get into the marathons more than the others year after year.

Hi JD, So glad to hear you got to see it. I have been sitting on my hands so I wouldn't give away any spoilers. I agree it was awesome!

    What's Next you ask?

Amanda Tapping is next (coming straight to DVD in October I think...). The movie is Sanctuary and the project by the same name can be seen on www.sanctuaryforall.com

There are short webisodes and the collection of these as well as new segments will be released as a full length movie!

Amanda Tapping is extraordinary (as if we didn't already know she was).

    Hey GypsyOwl!

I got Continuum from Netflix on Saturday and I made the time to watch it twice and all the special features, too.

    I LOVED IT!

Continuum was much better than the Ark of Truth.

It was like watching ten years of SG-1 in two hours.

The original cast was there, including lots of quick walk-bys by Siler, Major Davis, and others I can't think of.

We got to watch them defeat the Goa'uld all over, again!

There's just nothing like a good earth invasion, time travel, disaster-averted, action flick.

I'm still not used to seeing Teal'c with hair, but it was great seeing Richard Dean Anderson having fun with the full crew.

Throw in a nuclear submarine, a trek through the Arctic, and William Devane as President, and what more could you ask for.

I sent it back in the mail today, and I'm already wanting to watch it, again.

    What's next?

    Act on your dream!

Yes! I agree with you about 'The Arc of Truth' and the return of the replicators, that was out of sync for sure! Thanks for dropping by and for all of your participation in the polls. I am really looking forward to the new film and waiting for news about the potential of a third one. :D

Great lens, GypsyOwl. I watch SG1 and SG Atlantis on DVD from NetFlix. It's great to order a season at a time and watch them in order. I already have Continuum on the waiting list of my NetFlix queue. Can't wait to see it.

I was a bit disappointed with The Ark of Truth. While it successfully closed the Ori story arc, I thought bringing back the Replicators came out of left-field. Still, it was an exciting video and I would not have wanted to miss it.

    Act on your dream!
