Stefan can be described as tall, lean, brown hair (green eyes in the books), however, actor Paul Wesley, who plays him on television has very pretty, light blue/gray eyes (edit: According to my poll above they are indeed green!).

Stefan dresses like your normal, everyday older teenager. He's a 162 year old vampire trapped in the body of a teen. He was turned when he was around 17.

He tries hard to blend in and be more human and he seems to relate more to that side of himself. He has the complete opposite personality to that of his older brother Damon.

Thank heavens for sweet Stefan to balance out all the otherworldly bad stuff that goes on in this hit show.

Oh and he has fabulous hair and is ridiculously good looking!

Stefan is exceptionally intelligent and thoughtful but also extremely guarded which makes him so mysterious. You can't help but wonder more about his dark side and, I daresay, crave to see it unleashed but in a way that won't taint his goodness, if that makes any sense?

Stefan is inherently good, values human life and shows sympathy for others. Unfortunately, there was once a period when he drank human blood (he's a vampire after all). I'm assuming that he did kill people, however, now he is very careful about his human interactions and never indulges, not even donated human blood as was seen in the 162 Candles episode when his best friend Lexi visits him. She graciously offers him some bagged blood and he quickly declines.

He has a ridiculously high sense of self control and holds himself to impossibly high standards, he is very disciplined and sometimes a little too tightly wound. It makes us wonder what he's really like underneath that guarded exterior.

A favorite scene of mine where we get to see a glimpse of his hidden dark side (which I LOVED) was the dance episode where he is rescuing Elena from the obsessed, hoodie vampire Noah.

For the first time Stefan is a little violent (very un-Stefanlike) and we watch as he tortures the guy for information about whom he's working with; watching him work that broken broom stick was a complete shock, but I loved it!

It makes you realize that Stefan has been holding back A LOT and makes you wanna see more huh?

The closest we came to see what he might really be like (once he lets down his guard ) is when Lexi visited him. Here he was relaxed and totally at ease and that's when you realize that is his true self. Easy going and happy, no more brooding!

He curbs his thirst for human blood by hunting animals instead of killing humans.

Stefan is chivalrous, kind and an extremely attentive boyfriend to his lady love Elena Gilbert. There seems to be nothing that he wouldn't do for her and it is very apparent from his actions.

His brother Damon always follows him, waiting in the wings to see him fall and to make his life miserable. Damon really wants Stefan to give in to his cravings (to drink human blood). Although I'm not quite sure why, but I have a few theories.

The first theory is that he wants to see Stefan suffer. Damon has always resented him because he blamed Katherine's demise on him, that and the fact that Katherine seemed to favor Stefan a little more than Damon. So now, we've found out that Katherine was not really locked in the tomb after all!

I'm not sure how that will play itself out, but can Damon still resent Stefan for Katherine when she didn't even love him? Damon will find some reason to want to keep torturing poor Stefan.

Another theory is that he wants to feel close to his brother again. I think Damon feels like he can't relate to Stefan this way. Maybe he feels that Stefan is denying who he is (what he is) and eventually he has to succumb to his thirst.

Of course the question is not if but WHEN. Eventually Stefan will give in and drink human blood. There is no way he can keep going the way he does. He's so controlled at all times and one day he just might be faced with a situation that will force him to cave.

I have a feeling it will be to save someone he loves, either that or he will be possessed by something that will force him to do what he is so adamantly against.
