These are surely terrible times when the annihilation of an entire family can be seen as an answer to the loss of a job.

What can one do when faced with the reality of a job loss?

Find someone to confide in or go directly to a crisis center, there are people who want to help. The other option is to contact agencies which can provide financial advice and services.

There are always better solutions to solve your problems than suicide.

Lately, there have been numerous articles about people finding creative ways to market their abilities in search of a job.

A story which comes to mind is that of a young man who has not only created a website to advertise his talents, but he is also offering a 3 tierd award for the person who is able to find him a job within his requested salary range . The lucky person has the option between cash or vacation and in the case of finding a job over 100K (this is the 3rd tier), they get both the rewards offered in both the 1st and 2nd tiers.

How is that for an incentive?

I think that this is an idea which is a reflection of the technically innovative times in which we live. In a time where jobs are scarce, you really do not want to limit your possibilities to brick and mortor or online recruitment agencies. Why? Because it is about networking and finding the best way to reach the employment audience that might just be looking for someone with your skills.

So, if you are a person that is looking for a job or in search of turning your passion into a career, do your research and by all means................... think outside of the box by using your imagination to get your message across.

I recently read a great article which discussed the practicalities of quitting a "well-paid" job and taking the "risks" of turning your passions into a career. According to the survey from this article, it showed that even during these unstable economic times, there are those who have made the choice to try to carve their path by using their own skills.

Here are a few suggestions for making your dream a reality?

1. Look at your finances before stepping out. Give yourself strict time frames to reach your first goal so that you know how much money you have allocated for the first few stages/months of your project.

2. Research the market: Is there a demand for your skill? Is what you are offering unique?

3. Try to cut cost: Find no or low cost effective ways to get what you need. There are several websites where people offer their services in-kind for services they require in return.

4. Networking: Learn to use the internet as a "free" marketing tool. Get the word out about your product or service by using such sites as Squidoo.

5. And finally..........Being Patient and Realistic is the key. Do not expect success to happen over night; let your project mature gradually.

Remember, nothing makes sense during these times but sometimes by stepping out of your comfort zone will bring fulfillment.
