The Effects of Bruxism

Stop Bruxism Now!

The short-term and long-term effects that bruxism can have on your teeth is detrimental to your health. Short-term effects like headaches, earaches, and toothaches can make your day a living nightmare. Why should you put yourself through this pain?

Don't even get me started on the long-term effects. You'll have cosmetic damage, sensitive teeth (by grinding your teeth, you wear down the enamel which results in no protective coating) and Temporomandibular Joint Damage (this is the hinge which connects the lower jaw to the upper jaw.) Surgery on your jaw or teeth can cost you thousands of dollars if you don't take care of them. Do you understand why you need to do something about it now? If you hold it off any longer, then it might be too late.

Whats The Best Way To Stop Bruxism?

Now there are a couple of ways to stop this nasty habit. You can either wear a mouth guard or perform exercises. Let me explain a little bit more...

A mouth guard for bruxism is a thick piece of rubber that they put between your teeth so you don't grind on them. Truth be told, you are still grinding your teeth, just not on them. Mouth guards generally cost between $500- $700 depending on your dentist. The reason I don't like wearing a mouth guard is because it doesn't cure my teeth grinding problem, it only temporarily prevents it.

Exercises on the other hand are affordable and they can actually cure bruxism for good. They show you how stop clenching and grinding at night and give you other remedies to help you along the way. Thankfully for myself, I never bought a mouth guard. I tried the exercises and I'm glad I did. Not only did I save money, but I don't have to worry about grinding my teeth anymore.
