In order to create the kind of future we deserve, we need to heal our past.

We have inhereited the negative, toxic patterns from our past - from the legacy of slavery.

Think about the attitudes we have learned towards people who are dark-skinned or light-skinned, towards our natural hair. We have internalised patterns of negativity and self-hatred, and made them a part of us.

We pass on these negative patterns unconsciously, from parent to child, from one generation to the next. We keep wounding ourselves and each other and this will continue until we make a conscious decision to heal.

We need to heal ourselves. We need to heal our families and communities. This book offers practical methods to help us heal.

Core programming includes beliefs we hold at a very deep level. They may be things we learned as young children. We may not even know what they are. Often, we hold onto them unconsciously.
