A little about me 

I live in the Hamptons with my sweetheart, my English Bulldog and Persian cat, guess I like squished faces! We live in a small home on the outskirts of the Hamptons,across from the bay, in the marsh! The wild life and views are beautiful, the bay flooding and the mosquitoes not so beautiful. I call it the land of pestilence! I even have a locust weathervane! Tics, mosquitoes, mice, snakes, gorgeous birds and deer but I'm deadly afraid of snakes and hesitate to walk in the yard. The views and sunrises are wonderful though and in general I love it here. I have a reconverted porch that is my studio with an outside entrance so people can come and not interfere with the comings and goings of our home. I sell solely through the internet these days. Here's a picture of my little studio.

Stained Glass Work Shop 

a short description of the stained glass process.

Create a pattern, sharp curves should be avoided for beginners unless you have a glass saw. A few copies are necessary to lay out on and to work from. A firm strong paper is advised.
Cut your pattern out with pattern shears as they allow space for copper foil and lead. Make sure you number your pieces and add color and direction lines.
Transfer your pattern onto clean glass by either tracing around it or glueing it to the glass so that you can cut out each piece.
Wearing googles, hold the cutter as in the photo above, without pressing but allowing the weight of your arm to rest on the glass. You want to position your body that you can see your lines and have free motion in your cut. It is very important to never go over your line twice, but to bring the cutter towards you in one motion. You should hear your cutter sing on the glass. As soon as your score line is completed, place your thumbs up on either side of the line, not allowing the glass to contact the web of your hand and press out and down.
Place your cut piece on your pattern and continue until all pieces are cut.
Fill your grinder with water as directed on grinder and clean all edges, making sure that your glass is cut to pattern for neat and thin soldering lines. Dry and place back on your pattern.
Foiling needs to be very neat, place the foil evenly on the glass and overlap about a 1/4 of an inch. You want overlapped edges towards the center of the piece and not on an outside edge. Roll the foil onto the glass so that there are no wrinkles and it adheres well to the glass.
With horseshoe nails or a straight edge, make sure your glass pieces are tacked into a tight position on your layout pattern so that they don't move during the soldering process.
Flux the copper foil and tack your glass pieces together, turn and do the same on the other side. When completed go over your soldering again to form a bead, build strength and remove any air bubbles. Do the same on the front. Add a strong bead along the outside edge for strength. You can put a brass edge on the finished piece, u came or leave it as is. If it requires more strength, a frame will work also.
Clean your glass art work with a neutralizing agent, brass wire cloth and dish detergent.
You can then place a copper or black patina on your lead lines and rewash in order to insure continuity of color as lead oxidizes. A glass wax and buffing minimizes oxidation.

Origami Peace Crane

This origami stained glass crane, of original design and hand-crafted in my home studio in the Hamptons, is also known as Sadako's Peace Crane or "tsuru" in Japanese. It symbolizes peace and long life. The origami crane is often given as a gift to wish ill people a quick recovery, and as a wedding gift or decoration as cranes mate for life and are devoted in all seasons, sharing equally in nest building and caring for their young. Throughout Asia, the crane is a symbol of peace, happiness and eternal youth. It is said a thousand folded paper cranes make a wish come true.

The origami crane has become an international peace symbol in recent years as a result of its connection to a young girl, Sadako Sasaki, who was two when the atom bomb was dropped in Hiroshima. She collapsed when she was ten during a sports event and was diagnosed with Leukemia, the "Atom Bomb Disease". Her friends told her the legend that anyone who folded a thousand cranes would be granted a wish. Sadako hoped for a recovery in her courageous battle with Leukemia and began folding them. Sadly, she died before completing her task. Her faith and courage inspired her friends and classmates to complete her task and to build a memorial to the innocent children, who were victims of the atomic bomb. Each year, children and adults from all over the world fold a thousand cranes which are placed at the foot of the monument where the inscription reads:

This is our cry, this is our prayer, Peace in the world."

These stained glass origami cranes measure seven inches high and twelve inches across, and they can be hung. Blue usually signifies peace, white for long life and good health and red is usually used for wedding decoration because of their association with fidelity, prosperity and longevity. Wishing you a quick recovery and a long and happy life. 3.) Wishing you a long and happy marriage and much prosperity.

I received this email petition to stop dolphin slaughter, there is a video link that was so terrible I couldn't watch it. Quilt Works

Each quilt is "one-of-a-kind" art quilt that is signed and dated by me and unique, never to be repeated again. Each quilt is started with a hand-drawn picture, and then the picture is used as my template to select the fabric so the colors are just right. The fabric is my color palette, creating just the right color and mood for each little piece of the quilt. Then the fabric pieces are cut, placed, appliqued, and quilted. Lots of details to bring these creations to life! The pictures do not show all the subtleties of the color and texture in the quilts! It is a constant source of frustration for me; on the other hand it is great to get emails that tell me "it was even prettier in person"!

There are 3 distinctive styles of pottery made at The Stonehenge Pottery Company. Functional/utilitarian stoneware, made for everyday use, and Raku and Smokeware produced as non-functional pieces of collectable art. Each piece is hand crafted on the potter's wheel, hand formed or a combination thereof by artist/potter Ron Aubuchon. No two pots are ever alike making them 'one-of-a-kind' originals. The word "Pyrography" is taken from the Latin meaning Fire Writing. It is the art of decorating a receptive surface with a heated tool. Many different materials and items, such as leather, gourds, paper, tagua nut, shells and bones are used. Wood is perhaps the most common, so pyrography is often called "woodburning". Many types of woods are used including basswood, pine, oak and birch.
I prefer to use the wood from the Basswood tree for my art. It has a light creamy color, with very few variations in the grain.
