A Brief Background of Supernatural
Supernatural stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as 2 brothers (Sam and Dean Winchester) who travel the country to protect the world from supernatural creatures. Supernatural is a show in the tradition of X-files. It does a great job of mixing humor with a large measure of horror and suspense. However, unlike its predecessor, Supernatural never gets too bogged down in its own mythology. Each episode is easily accessible to the casual viewer.
Below I have listed synopses of the Season 2 and Season 3 episodes of Supernatural that are available for purchase via download. Check out an episode or 2 to sample the show for yourself.
If you are looking for a recommendation of one of my favorite all time Supernatural episodes, I would probably go with Season 2, episode 18 "Hollywood Babylon" (written by Ben Edlund of The Tick fame). I think this episode best exemplifies the combination of humor, and out-and-out scares that Supernatural is able to deliver quite frequently week-to-week. If you like what you see, I recommend picking up the first 2 seasons of Supernatural on DVD. Season 3, which recently completed in Spring 2008 on the CW, will not be available on DVD until Fall 2008.
