Stranger Than Fiction

This one's sick!

Is pro surfing a complete lie? Is modern wave-riding being faked for glory and profit? Is Dane Reynolds actually a robot? With trademark humor and a trend-setting soundtrack, Taylor Steele's latest genre-defining action flick pulls back the curtain on pro surfing's deepest, darkest secrets. 'Stranger Than Fiction' is more than just the newest high-performance line-in-the sand, it's an entirely new era of surfing. Brace yourself for the truth.

Learn to Surf Stronger

Good surfing happens through creativity, passion, and confidence. But before these forces spark your shred engine into gear, you have to be flexible and strong. That's easily done for the umpteen teeny boppers hopping 5 feet off of every lip and chunk of chop, but it gets more challenging if you are little farther along in your years.
Oh my back! Click to buy.

LOADED Pintail Carving Skateboard

You will stop sleeping. Sorry, but it's true. Versatile, light and fluid, these boards are designed to promote an assertive, dynamic riding style. It'll hold it's own on hills, riding banks, as a commuter, and for beer runs. But if you're anything like us, it's all about the late night parking garage sessions. Glassy eyes and a permanent grin. Length: 35.5"". Wheelbase: 29 inches. Weight: 2.6 lbs (deck only). 6 lbs (complete).

Get LOADED!

The Loaded Pintail performs splendidly downhill with its wide wheel base that holds true at high speeds and the extreme flex that gives the rider a high energy carve-heavy pseudo-wave riding experience. But while flowing down an overpass or snaking through a parking garage is where the Pintail performs best, it also carries you up the street confidently and briskly to grab a loaf of bread. That's right...Bread.

Curve Lockdown Surfboard Racks

Lock it Down

Are the Curve Lockdown racks strong?

The 900D PU coated water resistant fabric, zinc plated spring loaded lock, and solid steel load hook not only look tough but (during my trial test) have also been hanging tough for over three months of almost constant use. I generally load three boards (one being a large 9 ft. Supersoft for my kids), and the Curve Lockdown is showing no sign of wear. According to their website, the Lockdown is suitable for 1-6 surfboards.

Are the Curve Lockdown Racks simple?

The Lockdown racks are super simple. There are literally four steps to loading and securing your boards. Lay your racks on the roof; feed the strap through the lock; place your board into the padded strap; then pull tight.

Are the Curve Lockdown Racks protective?

This is where I see the biggest advantage to the Lockdown. The 25mm foam padding protects surfboard rails by not only enveloping them in padding, but also by tightening around all sides of the surfboard. There is a downward force that secures your boards like no other rack I have tried.

So in summary, the Curve Lockdown surfboard racks are solid and live up to the company's claims. At about $50 (Amazon has them for 44.95) they are a tad pricier than some of the lesser quality racks. However, based on my several month trial, I would say that they are worth the extra coin.

Proteck Performance Surfboard Fins

What are Proteck Performance Fins?

Proteck fins are surfboard fins with flexible leading and trailing edges. They have a standard solid core, but the flexible edges are supposed to create a "rudder action" that mimics the movement of dolphins and sharks by providing a tighter and more fluid turn as the water pressure bends the edges. Also, the flexible edges offer the bonus of safety in reducing fin cuts.

It all sounds great, but do they work?

The surfboard performance level didn't drastically change, but the fins added some fresh energy right where where I needed it.
The actual flexing is not evident in the ride. Rather there is subtle tightening and feeling of added precision in my board's turning radius.

Buy these things, then go pro.
