Susan Martin, 2-time NCAA D3 Golf Champion

Ranked #53,633 in Sports & Recreation, #1,168,146 overall

Susan Martin Wins 2nd Straight National Title

My niece, Susan Martin, a junior at Methodist University in Fayetteville, NC, won her second straight NCAA Div. III Women's Golf title on May 16, 2009. I am so proud of her. She really worked hard through a tough year. Her persistance paid off. That's My Girl!

Susan shot 73-71-73-77 for a 4-round total of 294. This matched the Division III National Tournament scoring record that Susan set last year when she won the title in 2008.

In 2007, her freshman year, Susan finished 9th in the D-3 National championship and was honored as 2007 Freshman of the Year.

She has one more year of eligibity and she has a lofty goal. She hopes to become only the second NCAA player to win three national individual titles back-to-back-to-back. Ben Crenshaw is the only college player to ever achieve that feat. Good luck next year, Susan!

I am so proud of you!

This is Coach Pate's last year as head coach of the women's golf team at Methodist. This was her seventh straight national championship. Not only will she be missed by her "girls" but she will be sorely missed by all the family and friends of the team members who have gotten to know her over these past few years.
Have a great life, Coach!

Susan's Biggest Fans: Her Family

Susan's family tries to support her in every way possible, but especially by traveling to her tournaments whenever they can. If eveyone can't be there, then at least one or two family members is at almost every match throughout the year. And the five of us have all been there for the three national championships that Susan has played in (except her twin sister Ellen had to miss the 1st one because of her own school activities). Below are parents, Ken and Florence Martin, grandfather, Roy Martin, (known as DanDanny), Susan, and Aunt Susan (GeorgiaGold).
