Unique Handmade Beaded Jewelry

Big News for Sweet Freedom!

I bought a bead shop in August, '08, and I'm loving it!

It is really keeping me busy, with not nearly enough time for the creative work I love, but I get to teach a lot of classes, so that is fun, too. I teach glass fusing, chainmaille, beading, bead-weaving, and wire-work.

My favorite, or course, is chainmaille. This picture shows the class project I'll be teaching in January, '09.

My Etsy Shop

I began selling my jewelry designs on Etsy in November, 2007, and love it!

My favorite technique is chainmaille: I just love weaving those tiny jumprings together! I also enjoy bead-weaving, and many of my woven creations are featured in my Etsy shop. I do a lot of wire-wrapping, and especially enjoy the clean look of wire-wrapped dichroic glass - glass I fused myself! And of course, I have a lot of straight-line beaded bracelets, necklaces, and earrings, too!

I hand select all materials, using the finest semi-precious gemstones, pearls, and Swarovski crystals - as well as natural beads such as wood, bone, and shell. I carefully select gorgeous focal beads from the best artisans, choosing either lampwork or dichroic glass beads, and also make my own fused glass creations.

Check out my shop, and contact me if you have questions or would like something custom-made just for you!

I joined ArtFire awhile back, and am loving it.

Lots of my designs are listed there - I hope you'll come visit!

Adventures in Wire-Wrapping

I've recently learned to wire-wrap, and am having a lot of fun with this medium. There are several wire-wrapped items available in my Etsy Shop, including pendants, earrings, and bracelets. I have also made a few rings, and am learning new patterns and techniques all the time!

This is a fun freeform turquoise and jasper bracelet that I wrapped in copper wire, and it's available here.

All Wrapped Up
I love the combination of copper and blue-green!

I have woven this freeform wire-wrapped cuff with a variety of blue-green beads, including kiwi jasper, turquoise, and glass seed beads. Various copper beads have been added as accents.

This substantial cuff is framed on heavy 14 gauge copper wire, and various other gauges of copper wire have been used to attach the beads to the frame.

The cuff is 1.75 inches wide at its widest point, and is easily adjustable; designed to comfortably fit from 6 inches to 8 inches.
Sterling Silver Heart Earrings
Fancy scrollwork sterling silver hearts are suspended from sterling silver chain in these dangly earrings. All sterling findings; sterling silver earwires. Total earring length, exclusive of earwire, is 1.5 inches.
Wire-Wrapped Blue Dichroic Pendant
This is a stunning piece of dichroic glass - lots of blues, teals, aquas, and pinks, on black, fired (by me!) in the "window" method, so there is a tremendous amount of depth to the piece. It has been wrapped in sterling silver, and is ready for a chain or even a black leather/suede strap.
Rose Gold and Sterling Earrings
These stylized earrings feature a textured rose gold frame, inside which swing a beautiful sterling silver pillow bead and large peach Swarovski crystal. Sterling silver findings throughout; sterling silver earwires. Total length of earring, exclusive of earwire, is 2.25 inches.
Sapphire Swarovski Crystal Cuff Bracelet
This unusual bead-weaving creation is another new pattern for me. Several different stitches are combined to create this supple cuff bracelet which has incredible sparkle, owing to the combination of the gorgeous sapphire satin Swarovski crystals and the mettalic pink seed beads. The bracelet's base is stitched from seafoam green seed beads. I just love this color combination, and the result!
Everything's Coming Up Roses
This gorgeous necklace started with a fabulous rose-colored puffy triangular lampwork bead handmade by Etsy's susanjonesdesigns. The bead is accented with gray dots, so I designed the necklace with some beautiful faceted labradorite briolettes, freshwater pearls in both a deep rose color and a lovely steel gray, rhodonite rounds, and light pink Czech crystals. Sterling silver bead caps, spacers, and seed beads add additional sparkle.
Turquoise Donuts
I was lucky to find these 5 beautifully matched turquoise donuts, with their rich teal hues, and spent some time trying to figure out how to show them off. I started playing with the brown leather cord, knotting them together, and adding these gorgeous solid sterling silver hammered cubes, and after a little trial and error, this great necklace is the result!

The center donut measures 1.75 inches in diameter, and the necklace is 18.5 inches long. Sterling silver toggle closure.
Color Disc Earrings
These earrings were designed to complement my Autumn Swirls Necklace, and feature the lampwork discs of Etsy's bluhealer, Swarovski crystals, and sterling silver earwires.
Pink and Red Swirls
This necklace was inspired by the gorgeous focal lampwork bead featured in the pendant. This bead has a base of transparent red glass, and is decorated with ribbons of pink and silver, and positively glows. It was handmade by Etsy's milminedesign.

I took this bead to my local bead shop to show it off, and found this cute set of pink and red lampwork beads that remind me of bon-bons, and I just couldn't get over how great they went together. From there, I picked up some 6 mm deep red Czech glass beads, some 3 mm pale pink Czech beads, and lots and lots of silver, and you can see the result. I think it is stunning! Steel seed beads were used as spacers, and a 4 mm Swarovski crystal dangles from the pendant.
