Children's Wetsuits stop the Blue Lips !

Children's wetsuits were never something that we had to think about when we lived in the UK unless you wanted to buy one to protect you from the rain! However, now that we live in a nice hot climate (and love it) we do have to think about children's wetsuits. We have wetsuits, rash tops and of course the boardies (as we call them here Down Under), we are proper water babies really.

We have learn't that it is important to dress your child according to the weather and temperature of the water because having the right children's swimwear will ensure that they are well protected from the sun and it's harmful rays, kept warm in the water and of course comfortable. In this lens I will provide you with the different sorts of children's wetsuits available for your child, the benefits of wetsuits and rash tops and of course a good place to purchase them.

Do Your Kids Shiver and get Blue Lips in the Water ?

Yes, they freeze and want to get out quick.

No, they would play in cold water all day - only complaining when they get a cold.

Tipi says:

They used to and so did I when I was a child swimming in a big fresh water lake early or late in the season. Of course the choice was always to swim some more.

Short or Full Bodied - Which Children's Wetsuit Suits ?

Some tips to help you decide...

Wetsuits Drying on

Buy at AllPosters.com

When you have made the decision to purchase a children's wetsuit for your child the next question is which one to get. No sorry, I don't mean which colour, I mean a short or full body wetsuit. To make this decision you will need to think about what your child will be doing in their wetsuit.

Shorty Wetsuits
These are good for play or swimming in pools or at the beach. The advantage that they have over the full bodied wetsuit is that they are easier to get on which with a child is a big plus. They will give that layer of insulation that will keep your child much warmer in the water.

Full Bodied Wetsuits
The advantage with a full bodied children's wetsuit for your child is extra warmth. If your child is in cool water for long periods of time then the full bodied wetsuit would be the prefered choice. If you are purchasing a wetsuit for your child for surfing then a full bodied wetsuit would be the one for you too.

Whether you choose a shorty wetsuit or a full bodied wetsuit for your child it will give the extra warmth in the water, SPF protection and protect them from abrasions.

Children's Wetsuits are not just for the ocean

Harry and Sam use theirs in the pool too

When it's winter time here in Queensland Australia we still have days when it's warm enough to visit the beach but the sea is colder. Also, the breeze on the beach is colder so that as soon as you come out of the water you feel the cold. Our youngest son Sam was only lasting about 5 minutes in the water - his teeth would visibly start chatting and his lips turn blue ! My eldest would last longer but then when he came out he would be desperate to get warm.

Now that we have wetsuits for them they stay in for ages without blue lips, chatting teeth or noticing how cold the sea is. I did think that I would only ever use the them in winter but this has not been the case - I use them all the time. Sam in particular has his on almost every time he is in the water. For example, we went to a friends only yesterday and it was cloudy and it was actually spitting with rain just as the kids were about to go in the pool, the water was cold - too cold for me, for sure. I put the boys their wetsuits on and in they went. They were in there 20 minutes - it would have been longer if Mom hadn't been such a spoil sport and made them get out to eat their sausages!

2mm Toddlers Shorty Wetsuits

Made up of 2mm neoprene which will be good for insulating the body. To allow mobility the the shoulders are made up of lycra. These will protect your child from wind chill and give them UV protection. These suits are great to use anywhere that you want to stops your child going cold in the water, such as beach, pool and swimming lessons.

These wetsuits are well made and will be one of those items that you will be able to pass down to younger brothers and sisters. Comes with 1 year warranty.

Do Your Young Ones Wear a Wetsuit?

My boys always have their wetsuits on, whether it's in the pool or in the ocean. We are heading to a water slide party today and they will have them on there too. It's a bit cool here and drizzly today so I know with their wetsuits on they are going to keep nice and warm and have loads of fun without getting blue lips !

Do your kids have wetsuit's ? Do they get cold in the water ? Do they love to swim ? Here's the place to comment. Thanks for visiting :)
