Symptoms Of Celiac Disease

The Symptoms Of Gluten Intolerance Are Often Mistaken For Other Diseases

The symptoms of celiac disease are often confused with those of other diseases. For this reason, many suffers go on thinking they are ill from this disease or that and don't even realize that if they just stopped eating wheat their symptoms would go away. This was the case with my father. He was told that his colon was so bad that it would soon turn into cancer. He gave up eating wheat and his colon returned to normal. How many people are dying because they don't know they have a wheat allergy?

Here are some symptoms of disease that could be a sign that you have an intolerance to gluten.

If you have been diagnosed with chronic sinusitis, you may actually have wheat sensitivity. Some of the symptoms of sinusitis are:

  • Nausea
  • Fatigue
  • Bad breath
  • Headache
  • Nasal congestion
  • Thick yellow/green discharge from the nose
  • Facial pain
  • Sore throat
  • Cough
  • Ear pain
  • Teeth pain
  • Teeth pain
  • Pain in the jaw
  • Difficulty breathing through the nose

If you are suffering from any of these symptoms and/or have been diagnosed with chronic sinusitis, try giving up wheat in all its forms (bread, pasta, cake, bagels, etc.) for a couple weeks and see if you notice a change in your symptoms. Obviously if your "sinusitis" improves or disappears completely, you can be certain that you are allergic to wheat.

I wonder how many people believe they have sinusitis when actually they are suffering from symptoms of celiac disease. I can understand how it happens because we look at wheat as being a benign food that is good for us. After all, it has been the foundation of our government's food pyramid for years. Maybe that is the problem.

Please be sure to share with your doctor your suspicions that you may have intolerance to wheat. Don't be surprised if he or she is skeptical of the suspicion. Most doctors have not caught on to this yet. Also, seek out others who have celiac disease. Talking with them will be a good source of support and you can also share experiences and help each other.

Finally, learn as much as you can about celiac disease. You can receive my reports on the symptoms of celiac disease just by sending me an email at celiacdiet@aweber.com. I al

Celiac Disease Symptoms

Gluten Intolerance Symptoms Often Mistaken For Other Diseases

Celiac disease symptoms, as mentioned above, mimic those of other "more common" diseases and therefore often go misdiagnosed. The symptoms of celiac disease, though, are just what you would think a disease attacking a portion of the digestive system would be.

Celiac disease symptoms are related to the fact the gluten interferes with the intestine's ability to absorb nutrition. For example, weight loss is a typical symptom. However, if someone has always had gluten intolerance but just never knew it, then they have probably always been thin. It is my guess that sudden weight loss wouldn't be a sign of celiac disease unless the person had never or rarely eaten wheat until recently.

Abdominal cramps with gas and bloating along with diarrhea are obvious symptoms. Think about it, your digestive system can't metabolize the gluten so it is going to wreak some havoc in there.

In addition, the poor metabolization of nutrients is going to lead to general weakness and stunted growth in children. Older people, as a result of not getting the nutrients they needed throughout life may end up with osteoporosis.

Basically, if you are gluten intolerant and eat wheat, your digestive system is not going to be able to ingest those nutrients and in some cases the nutrients of other foods as well. So, some celiac disease symptoms are basically those of malnutrition.

Finally, another symptom includes foul-smelling stools that are grey in color and oily.

Gluten Allergy Symptoms

These Symptoms Often Mimic Those Of Other Diseases

Gluten allergy symptoms are exactly the same above because a gluten allergy is celiac disease. Gluten is the component in wheat that some people are allergic to. The reaction they have when they consume gluten is referred to as celiac disease.

The best way to avoid gluten allergy symptoms is, you guessed it, avoid gluten. This is not such a hard thing to do now as there are many gluten-free breads and flours available. In addition, we eat too much wheat products anyway. There is no way that breads and cereals should be the foundation of our food pyramid. I have a feeling the government did that more for the wheat farmers than for the health of Americans.
