Telecoms Eastern European Challenge (www.teech.org) are a UK based charity who spend each year raising money and collecting physical items for our yearly project. Our projects are located in some of the poorest locations in Eastern Europe and our volunteers spend 2 weeks abroad each year to help make a difference to those less fortunate.

My organization is...

It all started in 1998 when a group of people who worked together at BT took up the challenge from a work colleague to help repair two hospitals in Bucharest. About 50 volunteers under the banner of BTL Aid travelled to Romania for a two week period in August and set about painting, plastering, lighting and generally making the two hospitals a cleaner, safer and brighter place.

Flushed with the success of this trip but seeing the need to be more structured, we organised ourselves into a proper registered charity and TEECH was born. We kept Telecom's in our name as so many of us worked for BT but we are a non BT organisation and totally independent.

Our goal is to:

Help those less fortunate to help themselves and have fun in the process - thats it!
