TMJ
TMJ Symptoms
Most people who suffer from a TMJ disorder often complain about chronic headache. This may or may not come with facial pain. Oftentimes, the pain becomes more severe when you try to close or open your mouth. Muscle contraction, as well as facial pain, can also be worsened by exposure to air-conditioned air or cold weather.
Ear pain is also one of the many TMJ symptoms. Almost half of the total number of known TMJ patients suffers from pain without exhibiting any sign of ear infections. One can usually feel the ear pain stemming from the front part of or below the ear. One can easily mistake this kind of ear pain as something caused by ear infection. You will be able to tell if it is an ear infection because the pain you feel comes with ear drainage or hearing loss. If it does not, then it might pretty well be a TMJ disorder.
Other common TMJ symptoms include grinding, popping or crunching sounds which may or may not come with increased pain, a vague sense of dizziness, imbalance but not spinning type vertigo, clogged, muffled or full ears, and tinnitus or ringing in the ear.
If you notice that you are suffering from the aforementioned symptoms from time to time, it would help if you will have yourself checked for TMJ disorder. It is no fun to suffer from TMJ pain so it is best that you have access to treatment as early as possible.
