The new TOEIC exam will test speaking. Following in the foootsteps of the TOEFL exam, the ETYS announced in December of 2005 that the TOEIC test will also be modified to include a speaking component, by the last quarter of 2006. Read about this below.

TOEIC vs. TOEFL 

  1. The TOEIC test is designed to quantify a candidate's English proficiency in a WORK related environment. In other words, the TOEIC is for people who wish to work in a foreign country where English is used.
  2. The TOEFL test is designed to quantify a candidate's English proficiency in an EDUCATION related environment. In other words, the TOEFL is for people who wish to study in a foreign country where English is to be used in the classroom.
