Raleigh Studios: Set To Break Ground In Utah!
Raleigh Studios: Changing the face of Utah film industry
Hollywood comes to TRU Talent Management and the state of Utah
Yes it is true, many films are shooting, have shot, or will be shooting in Utah. It has been Utah films downfall, not having post-production facilities and sound stages close at hand. More recently, films such as 3:10 to Yuma, Wild Hogs, and box-office hit Transformers. All missed out on. So, despite the lovely and wonderfully diverse scenery, Utah lacks the massive controlled-environment facilities that are quite prominent in Hollywood lore.
That is, Utah LACKED, past tense, the facilities previously and maybe a bit longer. But not for long, according to Jason Perry, executive director of the Governor's Office of Economic Development.
He was quoted as saying, "It's our desire to make the state of Utah the premiere film destination between L.A. and New York."
Well, one can only hope that this will be the case in coming years. A beacon of hope, rather floodlight of hope in this area is Raleigh Studios. A powerhouse of the film industry has descended upon Utah and reportedly liked what they found. There are plans to break ground on a facility in Quinn's Junction, a short distance from Park City, UT. While an exact date has not been decided upon, it is rumored construction could begin as early as late summer or early fall of 2009.
Raleigh Studios has roughly 40 sound stages at multiple facilities operating world-wide. The locations currently are: Hollywood CA, Manhattan Beach CA, Playa Vista CA, Sylmar CA, Baton Rouge LA, and Budapest Hungary. The new location in Utah would have 8-10 soundstages, post-production facilities as well as a back lot.
Raleigh Studios has just signed on with Marvel Studios for four of their next films. The second Ironman film, The Avengers, as well as Thor. Some of the television projects that have called Raleigh Studios home are: "CSI: Miami," "America's Funniest Home Videos," and "Boston Legal."
The Raleigh facility paired with new legislation and incentives means many more big-budget projects will shoot in Utah. So you will be seeing many more TRU Talent Management faces on the big screen.
SEE YOU AT THE MOVIES!!!
