Thoughts From Folks Around The World

Where Delicious Thai Cuisine and FREE Wi-Fi Come Together

From the lens Ting's Thai Kitchen, Thai Food, Restaurant, Hidden Valley Lake, CA.

Bringing FREE Wi-Fi and food together is nothing new on the national scene. But, the way Ting's is doing it is NEW for Lake County, CA. Hopefully, this concept will spread throughout the county. The concept of mutual collaboration between small businesses is sorely needed in these economically challenging times. Thankfully, Ting's is proactive in this regard.

My husband is there right now and giving me a review over the cell phone.
    *****
"The cucumber salad is tasty and fresh. The chicken skewers were cooked well and taste good. The peanut sauce is good but became a lot better when I added the hot chili pepper sauce to it. The entre, Pad Se Ew (wide noodles), is good but shrimp is a bit overcooked and it doesn't seem that fresh. Service could be better; servers should check on patrons a little more often or remain in the room if case someone needs anything. Server passes by and does not look at me."

Eating out in this economic climate is all about value for money and my experience at Tings recently convinces me that this restaurant has it all. We had a wonderful meal for what we felt was an incredibly reasonable price. Service was excellent. All in all, highly recommended.

Tings is a Godsend! My husband and I are both in the Napa Valley wine industry (as are hundreds of others in Hidden Valley Lake) and Tings is the only thing, sometimes, that keeps us from uprooting and heading to Napa to live. Great Thai! And we former-City folk know Thai!! Thank you Tings. Long may you run! Holly - Cain Vineyard & Winery, Greg - Trinchero

I love Thai cuisine, but the problem I have is that there are radical inconsistencies from one restaurant to another. For example:

    - I love Tom Kha soup, but some places put rice in it (ugh!). Others use ginger powder instead of root and lemon juice or something instead of lemon grass. It's perfection if it's done right, awful if it's not.

    - Panang - some places, the sauce is practically soup. Whether that's "authentic" or not, it doesn't work very well on a plate over rice.

    - Pad kee mao (drunken noodles) - for starters, a lot of Thai restaurants don't even make these (and it's my favorite Thai dish). And then some places try to pass off western-style egg noodles as this.

At its best, Thai is one of my favorite cuisines, but you really have to check ahead at restaurants before you order on the dishes you love, because it may be completely different than you're expecting.

I think that the video is a nice touch to this page - that tells alot about the restaurant - and of course the splash page advertising is a great plus as well - If a customer reorders after the first hour are they able to get an additional hour of Internet time?

All the best on the Thai venture. I write from Bangkok taht Lamar is CONNECTED ;-) where we really apprecate the fine distinctions and subtleties in Thai cuisine--as well as some fire! We will likely head up river to a favourite spot for Larb Moo an Pomelo Salad - and will be sure to lift a glass to all of you enjoying a similar feast so many miles away.
