Why Supernatural is the best TV show

A fella for every taste, as long as your taste is tall, brunette and brooding.

First off theres Dean, played by Jensen Ackles. Deans the older brother, responsible to carry on the 'family business' and keep a close eye on his younger, more rebellious brother. Dean drives THE CAR (more on that later) which is his pride and joy, listens to cranking rock tunes - AC/DC for example and is always quick with the one liners. Needless to say Dean had me at the opening scenes of the first episode.

Then theres Sam, played by Jared Padalecki. He's the younger brother who was fed demon blood by a demon when he was a baby. Because of this he has some nasty 'power'. He tried to escape the family business by going to university to study law. But then their dad goes missing so Dean comes to get him. Sam is a gadget geek, smart and wants to be normal, which can never happen. I must admit his character annoyed me in the beginning but he has gotten heaps cooler in recent seasons.

Lastly there is Castiel, played by Mischa Collins. He is an angel introduced in the opening of the fourth season. Before that the brothers didn't believe that angels existed, although in one earlier episode Sam was sure they did and hoped to meet one. Castiel being an angel has no emotion and is a follower of gods instruction - kind of like a loyal puppy dog. As his charachter spends more time with the humans, he learns how to think and feel for himself. Mischa is an awesome actor and a great addition to the team.

Together they are what is called "Team Free Will". A group banded together to stop the impending Apocalypse.

It's a black 1967 Chevrolet Impala. Dean inherited it from his dad and it is a mighty fine piece of machinery. It purrs like a tiger and when needed it comes to the rescue.
There are numerous episodes dedicated to the car, like the one in season four where Dean is sent back in time to hang out with his dad, and he advises him to buy it instead of a VW kombi.
The best episode is the season finale of season five where they take you through the cars entire history, even the boys as kids playing in the back of it.
At the start of the sixth season Dean thinks Sam is dead and retires from hunting, Sam is actually still alive however but instead of letting Dean know he goes off and buys himself a new car. Its a new Dodge Charger SRT 8, poking fun at Sams need for new stuff and Deans need for retro stuff. It doesn't survive more then 2 episodes though unfortunately.
Dean is very protective of the car, calling it his baby as any revhead would and rightly so :-)

Norse Odin - The Chief God, Baldur - God of Love and Happiness, Loki - Or the trickster, also a christian archangel and The Vanir - were a group of Norse gods who required human sacrifice to guarantee goods harvests.

And this is just a sample. But it isn't all just god wars, a lot of urban legends, mythologies (such as Japanese, Native American) and your everyday run-of-the-mill monsters are taught a lesson as well. Vampires, Werewolves, Poltergeists, Shapeshifters - they've topped them all. And let some go - if they play nice...

There are about half a dozen episodes which are nothing really to do with the plot line and are there for the pure giggle factor. The writers seem to enjoy adding little lines in the middle of episodes to make fun of the actors in real life and you can tell the guys have a ball doing it.

One of the best is the episode in season 6 where the archangels send them straight into real life. Thats right all of a sudden they are Jensen and Jared starring on a TV show called Supernatural, and they have to learn very quickly to act that way.
At one point they are at Jareds house and the actress who played Ruby in season 5 walks down the stairs - they freak out and then freak out some more when they realise Jared married her! That was classic, but the funniest bit was where they hop online and check out some old footage of Jensen in Days Of Our Lives. Freakin hilarious.

Another one is the last Trickster episode where he locks them in TV land - but more on that later....

As I was saying earlier there are some very funny episodes.

There's one where the Trickster has locked them up in TV land and they have to play along in order to escape. They even do a send up of I love Lucy.

But the funniest of them all is the CSI Miami parody. Because I can't put any clips on here just click on the photo and it will take you to it. Normally I would tell you more but you just have to watch it.
