Taggies Blankets, Toys and More

Taggies were the brain child of two mothers, Julie and Danielle. Julie, an early childhood educator and mother of three, noticed that her baby was more interested in the tags on toys than the toy itself. With that in mind she made a security blanket for her baby adding tags around the edges.

The blanket was a big hit with her friends and Danielle suggested that they go into business together with this simple yet creative concept. They have since expanded the Taggies line to include not just blankets, but toys, books, and clothing as well.

Our Taggie

When my daughter was a baby she loved to touch and chew on the tags of her toys and blankets. One day my husband cut a tag off of a toy for her and as soon as I found out I had him sew it back on since that was her favorite part of the toy. It seems a bit strange, but there must be something to it because Taggies, Inc. keeps on growing!

I wish I could remember how I first found out about Taggies. It was in 2001 but I'm not sure if we got one for a gift or I saw it online. I know that my daughter had a little triangle shaped Taggie that we used to take with us everywhere we went. Out for a walk in the stroller... brought the Taggie. Driving somewhere in the car... brought the Taggie. She loved it. We used to put a pacifier holder through the little opening at the top and clip it to her shirt...that way she had both right there for her without being able to drop them.

So true! Both my kids LOVED the tags on all toys as babies. Definitely a great gift idea for babies. :)

My middle daughter had the purple sugar & spice Taggies as well as a take-along purple taggie. It was a very sad day when the last one got lost as we weren't able to replace it at the time (they weren't stocked anywhere in Australia). She even took it in the bath one day:-)
