Getting to know Lake Tahoe
Lake Tahoe is a great place to visit. It has lots of activities for the whole family.
I live only about 100 miles away so it is an easy trek.
The first thing you want to look at is where to stay and even though there are lots of motels and hotels, especially in South Lake, my favorite place to stay is the Forest Suites Hotel. It is right below the Heavenly Ski Gondolas and a short walk from the casinos but what I really like is you can get a little suite with a seperate bedroom and pretty much a whole kitchen for a reasonable price.
Cruising The Lake
One of the best activities to do, at least during the warmer months, is to go cruising on one of the lake's authentic padle wheel boats.You can choose from a variety of cruises, including dinner and sightseeing tours.
Heavenly!
Winter or Summer the Gondolas at Heavenly are running!During the winter time of course you can take the gondolas up to the top for some great skiing but during the spring, summer and fall don't miss out on the spectacular view.
Octoberfest!
Octoberfest is usually scheduled for the forst weekend in October and runs both Saturday and Sunday.
The event has a live polka band, great food, vendors and of course Lots Of Beer!
Spectacular Golf!
I don't get a chance to play golf too often, but the great selection of golf courses at Lake Tahoe makes it easy to sneak in a few holes.The one thing you have to be concerned about is the elevation. Lake level is over 6,000 feet so you may become exhausted quickly.
