This lens is predominately for two groups of people. The first is for the caring, loving parent. The one that wants to make sure all of the bottles, food and hazardous materials that come into your house are as safe as possible. The second is for the business who wants to make sure that their customers are safe and secure, the most for the customer. Also, for the business that wants to decrease shrink as much as possible. So, let's begin and look at some of the options for both of the critical groups in our society.
Why use tamper resistant items?
According to a report put out by the International Association of Chiefs of Police for product tampering, the following definitions have been officially established by the FDA under Title 18, U.S. Code, Section 1365.
1. Tampering-the alteration of a product, its label or container, with reckless disregard
for the risk that another person will be placed in danger of death or
bodily injury or to cause serious injury to the business of another person, or
an attempt to do so.
2. False information-communication of information that is false, and that the
communicator knows is false, under circumstances in which the information
may reasonably be expected to be believed.
With cases of product tampering going coast to coast, it's clear that it is a concern for every parent and therefore, a concern for every business.
With shrink (stolen product) continuing to increase in number and those willing to "slip" poisons into products, safety measures must be taken. That's what the next section will talk about, the different alternatives there are to allowing items to be stolen and tampered with.
