I have not tried it. I've home schooled for over 25 years and my last child is nearly done. But we getting foster kids and I've always wanted to try a classical approach. I am told we can HS foster kids now, so we'll see how friendly and open the case workers are to it. I am looking forward to checking into this curriculum more.

There is so much buzz about this curriculum, even from homeschooling families that aren't necessarily diehard classical homeschoolers. This homeschool curriculum has become increasingly popular because it is providing what parents need and want. Now that the digital version is available it offers more options than ever including a less expensive option. The Tapestry of Grace.com website is a top notch website that enables you so easily see how the curriculum works.

I have added a Tapestry of Grace page to my website, BestHomeschoolBuys.com

We have used ToG for this past year and LOVE it! Because we have many children at differing levels, it has been a massive help. The first 2-3 weeks were horrible as I had to figure out the program. However, once I actually read through it and found the "Grace" available there, I am firmly hooked. I was a teacher before becoming a mother and I have looked through many, many different texts and programs. Tapestry beats them all - hands down! It is excellently written. It is thorough yet, as the name implies, it is full of grace. Our entire family has thrived using this curriculum. The books that are recommended as supplimental reading have been carefully chosen. Although it is rarely necessary, if there happen to be any objectionable parts, there are warnings in the instructions so you can make sure to have your child skip "Chapter 14", "Page 132" or whatever. No more having to pre-read everything! That is a huge time-saver.

Have not tried it but it sounds really helpful for homeschooling.
  • EelKat Nov 18, 2007 @ 12:06 am | delete
The book you mentioned: "The Well-Trained Mind", I just love that book! It's my fave book on teaching methods, I used this when I was doing high school stuff. (unschooling home schooler).

Like best: Gives me new insight into biblical truths, works with large family, Christ-centered, flexible, affordable(can be used with libraries).
Downside: Takes more prep time than a curriculum-in-a-box (but I actually like that), uses lots of looseleaf paper (can be difficult to keep organized).
  • KarenHS2 Aug 22, 2007 @ 9:43 pm | delete
I have not used TOG but I love your lens. Fabulous!! I am going now to feature it on my Homeschooling High School lens.

I'm the mother of 7 children and we've been homeschooling since 1992. I've tried so many things, but have finally found a "home" with Tapestry of Grace. It is everything I could ever hope for in a curriculum. My kids are getting an incredibly rich education thanks to TOG. I could not be happier.
  • Somerschool Feb 26, 2007 @ 12:23 pm | delete
I'm officially Tapestry of Grace's "most satisfied customer," with six kids who have been using it (in some form) since 1995, so I'm biased--but it's great!
  • kimberly jones Feb 8, 2007 @ 1:18 pm | delete
tapestry of grace is wonderful...it is so rich...provides so many more options...i never could have put this all together myself...thank you!!!
  • groovyoldlady Feb 7, 2007 @ 7:28 am | delete
I'm too flighty to deal with the rigors of a classical education. I'm a freelance writer AND a freelance homeschooler! I use a little bit of this and a little bit of that.
