Who is the Fool

Lets get to know him a little better

Most people will agree that the Fool is one of the most mysterious cards in the pack. He is full of folly and joy which associates him with man and his ability to focus on the least important aspects of life, yet on the other hand he is also considered to be a little crazy and in past times, the crazy were always associated with God.

Being crazy allowed you to not have to focus any attention on the usual things that man has to think about on a daily basis, such as money and food and work and responsibility. A madman therefore, has the freedom to only contemplate the kind of things that the gods would think about. This put him one step closer to God.

In the Tarot, the fool is considered to be a representation of man, yet with a profound connection to a higher being. The Fool is often interpreted as humanity with impluses that pull him this way and that. His bundle over his shoulder, a collection of gadgets and fads, all the kinds of things that humankind is so obsessed with, yet which has no real value.

What else do we know about The Fool

What if He appears in a reading in the reverse position?

Lets take a look at another interpretation. For many the Fool indicates man's unwavering advancement in his evolution. It represents humankind moving along the road of evolution with total indifference and without stopping to think.

His pack that he carries is often refered to as the sum of both his good and bad intentions, actions and thoughts. All cards in the Tarot have both positive and negative aspects. The Fool, although being youthful and innocent, is also considered to be naieve and irresponsible. His journey is let by his heart and not his head and in many of the card depictions, the fool has his eyes covered, which shows that he walks blindly and with little direction.

Many Interpret the Fool as meaning:-

Wrong Advice
Ideas that are in the process of changing
Willingly giving up material wealth
Irresponsibility
Lack of organization
Thoughtlessness

In the reverse the Fool is considered to be:-

A foolish person who follows his whims without regards for anything or anyone.
To do something and fail, yet have no way of returning to a comfortable state
Complications
Incompetance
