I have decided to write this article to help those make a very informed decision. This is a decision that will be with you for the rest of your life. Tatoos are a true statement and testament to who you really are in this world.
Before you visit a tatoo shop it is very important to come up with a design that you have in mind. By doing this, you will keep from being rushed into a decision quickly and giving it much thought. Remember you are putting art on your body permanently. The last thing that you want to do is make a mistake that will live with you for the rest of your life. Do not set yourself up for this disappointment!
Tatoo designs and choosing one is not to be rushed as there are many categories to look at from Gothic, Tribal, Asian, Egyptian, Celtic, Butterfly, etc. To start off, think of one category, then in a single sitting focus on what you would like for a tattoo in this category. Looking too many designs in a series of categories is too much at once. Narrow it down and come up with a few good samples per category and what types of modifications you would want, if any? Also, while you are looking keep in mind of where you will be putting this tattoo on your body. You want to keep in mind and focus on size, location, and position of the tatoo.
You should be getting excited when you see your narrowed down set of tatoo designs. If you are having second thoughts then keep looking. Get at least 1-3 great designs. You will know when you have chosen the tattoos, they will come alive and you will know and you will be excited with joy.
When you have narrowed down your choices, you should then go to a tatoo parlor. Go to at least 4-6 parlors in your neighborhood. You want to first consider your safety and consider the cleanliness of the facility. Do not use a facility that looks dirty in appearance. Your health is more important! You may also want to call the Better Business Bureau to check on the history of the parlor and see if it has a bad or good reputation in the community.
Once you are comfortable with your selection of parlors, start off talking to one or more artists. Does their work match up to what your expectations are? Ask how much the tatoo will cost with regards to location, size, number of colors used, etc? Also consider if the artists samples match to the style, look and feel that you are looking for in your tatoo designs. Take your time and do not be in a rush. After viewing all the parlors and talking to all the artists, the final picture should be apparent as to whom you will want to do business with.
