C. G. Taylor can truly be called the father of the light airplane industry. At one time, before WWII, his two famous designs, the Taylorcraft and the Taylor Cub, comprised well over half of the world's light aircraft fleet. A majority of the pilots living in the United States today probably trained in one or the other of his little planes. The Taylorcraft Company, the subject of this history, was started by C. G. Taylor in 1936. It still exists today - still building his original two-place, side-by-side design, This book, therefore, spans the period from 1936 to the present.

"Buy Your Airplane Taylor Made" is a slogan used by the manufacture to advertise the plane. They hoped to make this plane as common as a car for the American people.
The Taylorcraft airplane is faster, more comfortable and better-designed aircraft then most private planes and has outsold most other small aircraft.
Taylorcraft was used for training and observation during World War II.
In the mid 1940's a disastrous fire forced the company into bankruptcy, but it was bought by a former owner to keep it going. It didn't do as well after that until 1996 when Lee Booth bought the company who revamped it and got it going again before selling it in 2003.
