Celebrating Teddy Bear Day!
Ranked #8,608 in Hobbies, Games & Toys, #112,812 overall | Donates to ONE Spirit
The Teddy Bear phenomonen started with President Teddy Roosevelt.
Americans can thank former President Theodore Roosevelt for the teddy bear phenomenon in America. The story has been written numerous times that he could not bear (pardon the pun) to shoot a cub bear that was brought to him when he was hunting. The bear that became known as Teddy's bear opened the way for the creation of toy bears...a craft that is still endeared to our society. Adults have a love affair and affinity for teddy bears. Children find teddy bears irresistible. It would be an interesting statistic to know how many people have grown up with one as their best friend and how many still hold on to them. Teddy bears range from the simplest plush toy that lives in children's toy boxes to the most sophisticated ones that could be qualified as museum pieces. It's not unusual for collectors to have hundreds of teddy bears in their keeping.
We love our teddy bears...plain and simple! So why shouldn't we have an official day to recognize our most favorite toy? Surprise! We do. September 9th is Teddy Bear Day. In fact there are four holidays celebrating teddy bears. Read on to get more information.
So here's the question.....
Bear wall graphics:
They are more than just a toy!
Teddy bears have become the most popular symbol of childhood around the world. They aren't just for children. Teddy bears are a accepted choice for Valentine's Day, Christmas, baby showers, and graduation gifts. Service organizations use Teddy Bears as comfort gifts to sick children, troubled children, and those experiencing trauma. The American Red Cross gives out their own Teddy Bear version to comfort those experiencing traumatic life situations. Here's a link to their bear: Red Cross Bear

This is one classy bear!
Do you have a sick Teddy Bear?
If you or your child has a sick Teddy Bear that needs some "medical assistance", I found a website that will take in your bear and nurse it to health. They will clean and repair your timeless friend and bring him back to health. They also make their own original bears. They can help you celebrate Teddy Bear Day with a healthy, restored bear. Here's where you can find them: Sally Winey Bears
I like to work BIG jigsaw puzzles.
Put some bears on your wall.

- I don't really remember my childhood teddy bear, but my first-born son had a teddy bear as his first baby gift that became his constant companion for the first 4 years of his life. When he gave it up I wrapped it in plastic and put it away ... just in case he changed his mind. At age 13 he found it while helping me unpack after a move and said 'why did you keep this old thing?" I flippantly said "I saved it to give to your wife when you get married'. He laughed at me.... so that's what I did. Teddy Bear (his one and only name ever) was presented to my new daughter-in-law with a letter from 'teddy' telling her about her new husband's early years and welcoming her to the family. :)
