In deciding what to do, the teen has to think outside the box. They need to think beyond that of working in a store, or a burger joint. A teen needs to think about what tasks that need to be done, but people hate doing, even teenagers. Tasks so unpleasant people would be willing to pay anyone else to do. One such task, that any child growing up with a family dog, remembers well, is cleaning up the dog droppings in the back yard.

In the last 10-20 years, a growing number of women are deciding to have dogs instead of children, or a man under foot. Middle income women in their 30s and up are buying up previously owned family homes, just for themselves and their pets. They liked their dogs, but they do not like the cleanup job, so they are willing to pay others to do it. As such, this is a growth market. Even people with children get tired of trying to get their kids to do it.

All you need is a small garden rake, a handled dustpan, small plastic bags, and dog attractant.

You don't need a car to do this; everything can be carried on a bicycle, or a bike cart. Initially, you ask the pet owner to take the dogs into the house. You place a plastic bag over the opening of the dustpan, and then use the garden rake to scoop the droppings into it. You sprinkle a neutralizing agent in the areas where you are finding the droppings. Once finished, you close the plastic bag and put it into the pet owner's outside trash reciprocal.

After cleaning the yard, you select an area where you will put the dog attractant, then ask the pet owner to release the dogs.

By using the attractant, then each time you return to clean the yard, you will not need to search around for the droppings. Once a month, you change the area of the yard where you place the attractant. You can clean a yard in 5-10 minutes and earn $3 to $5 for each cleaning. If you can get several yards of pet owners within a short walk from each other, you could earn up to $30 an hour.

You will have the initial expense, so you may need to get a loan from your parents. You can create your own business card, and print them, using your computer. You could even print on magnetic material using your inkjet printer, so that your card will stick to a refrigerator.

In this economy, you must be imaginative in finding ways to earn money. Think about the things you hate to do, and what others hate doing. Those are the things you could be paid to do.
