TV Brands Today

LCD TVs or Liquid-crystal display televisions use LCD technology to present images. This technology has advantages such as lower weight and less power needs from other TV models. LCD TV screens are often used as computer screens.

In India today, there are several TV manufacturers who make and market LCD TVs, such as LG, Sony, Sharp, JVC, Samsung, Philips, Panasonic, Toshiba, Hitachi and Haier.

LG

The 42LGX is the latest LCD model from the LG stable. Critics give it a picture quality rating of 91/100. It has 120Hz processing capability and 1080p resolution besides also having processing upgrades which convert from 480i to native resolution.

This TV model's anti-glare screen plays a significant role in reducing contrast and black level as well as decreasing dark matter detailing. The anti glare function itself works flawlessly as we did not note any background light disturbance.

Sony Bravia

The advantages of this 52-inch LCD TV are that it produces the darkest of black levels of all non-LED LCD TV. It also has many picture controls, up to the minute color temperature, color decoding, and is a sleek piece of modern TV technology. It is also very highly energy efficient. It is barely 1.8" in depth and has a lot of design elements. Its processing quality is very good while its contrast and black levels are not impacted by its anti-glare technology. If you watch TV in a room with lots of background light, then this one's for you.

On the flip side, it is very expensive, its black levels do not remain constant in dark scenes, its screen uniformity is not too good, etc. Though it is a very stylish piece, it is far too expensive for its picture quality.

JVC LCD TV

This LCD TV model has new features such as integrated NTSC and ATSC tuners, table top stand, bottom-mounted speakers and remote control. It has two variants in size—32" and 37" flat panel LCD screens, equipped with the same features and similar resolution. Its 40" model is also its flagship model and comes with camera card slots to see digital images.

It is very bright—something you will notice the moment you turn on the TV. However, you can tone down the brightness by using its Energy Save Mode setting. This will also help protect the life of the fluorescent bulb. As with LCD TV models of rival companies, this one also uses anti-glare technology.

On the flip side, its black levels are average, which affect the overall ratios of contrast. This is perhaps the only drawback in this model's picture quality, despite which critics give this one a picture quality rating of 95/100.

Sharp AQUOS LCD TV

With a picture quality rating of 89.5/100, you can bet you have got yourself an LCD TV that everyone's going to envy. Sharp has two variants in the LCD range of TVs—the LC-52D82U Aquos an the LC-52D92U.

The D82 Sharp LCD TVs come with a backlit system of 4 wavelength that gives off a contrast of 2000:1. It has a refresh rate of 120hz and response rate time of 4-milliseconds which help reduce the motion lag in LCD displays. This is the same even in different backlight situations.

When HD cable and HD-DVDs are used, the picture quality is brilliant and clear. The sound quality is also good. It is easy to install and use, it is beautifully designed and sleek and slim, besides also being lightweight. You also have the choice of installing it on the wall or on a cabinet.
