Terry Kath was a founding member of the band Chicago. He carried all their
guitar work by himself. Incredible really if you think about it.

If you go back and listen, not just to 25 or 6 to 4, but really listen to all the tracks on their early albums, from ~1967 to 1977,
(Their first was actually called Chicago Transit Authority),

You will hear the most talented, and underrated guitarist and singer,
you didn't know you liked so much!

When all the laughter dies in sorrow by Kindrew Lascelles

A poem read aloud on Chicago III that Terry embraced

When All the Laughter Dies in Sorrow

When all the laughter dies in sorrow
And the tears have risen to a flood
When all the wars have found a cause
In human wisdom and in blood
Do you think they'll cry in sadness
Do you think the eye will blink
Do you think they'll curse the madness
Do you even think they'll think

When all the great galactic systems
Sigh to a frozen halt in space
Do you think there will be some remnant
Of beauty of the human race
Do you think there will be a vestige
Or a sniffle or a cosmic tear
Do you think a greater thinking thing
Will give a damn that man was here

Kindrew Lascelles

I was very lucky - I grew up listening to Terry play, I had seen him many times live and every time I saw him, he proved to be brillant - his song introduction just screams greatness, but it also shows the shy tenderside of him as well "yeah now everybody - please dont walk or roam - we are a little nevrvous now - where so far from home" A magic man that has played a large part in my life

I was lucky to see Terry w/ Chicago on a great night in Pittsburgh back in '77. He was awesome on guitar and vocals, and I remember saying "WHOA" to myself when he pulled out some of the nastiest, peel the wallpaper solo licks I'd ever heard. RIP, Terry. You young guitar players, study this great legend's guitar legacy that has been left to the world. Hendrix knew this as well.... Long live the music & memory of Terry Kath.

Just a personal note. I like the You Tube clip of their New Years Eve Special but my favorite is still their performance in the tribute to Duke Ellington sepcial "Jump for Joy".
