Gameplay

Instructions for Tetris

The goal of Tetris game is to maximize your score by placing the falling blocks or triangles into full horizontal lines with the different shaped blocks that fall. Every assembled line will then disappeared and provide points. The more lines you make, the higher your chances are to increase your score.

For the very few people who don't know how to play Tetris: blocks of different shapes drop from the top of the screen into a box. Each block is made up of four small squares arranged to make a larger square, an L-shape or a column. As the blocks fall they can be rotated or moved horizontally so that every space in the box is filled. When a horizontal line is completed, that line is "destroyed" giving you more points and moving the rest of the placed pieces down by one square. If a line remains incomplete, another line must be finished above it. The more lines that stand incomplete, the higher the blocks above them stack, reducing the space in which falling shapes can be manipulated. Eventually the blocks reach the top of the screen and the game ends. The statistics box at the left of the screen shows the number of shapes of different colours that have been positioned, and another box at the bottom right shows what shape of block will appear next. There are ten skill levels; the higher the level, the faster the blocks fall.

Strategy

Hints of Tetris

It's easy enough to understand how to play the game Tetris, but creating a strategy to get consistently high scores takes a lot of time on the keyboard or controller. Use some of the following hints and tips on how to play the game Tetris and you'll be getting to any level you want in no time. The seven "tetrads" that are used in Tetris, each comprised of four squares.

1.Try to create solid rows and walls
2. To help the skilled player plan better moves, the next tetrad to fall is typically shown somewhere on the screen.
3.Remember that you get a lot more points from clearing 4 rows than just 1 at a time.
4.Use the long piece to complete your four rows by making sure you create space on the left side or right side of the board. The reason is that it's harder to fit the 'z' and 't' pieces on the edge.
5.Once the levels start getting faster, you will want to keep the number of lines low. Eight to ten lines should be sufficient so that if you do mess-up or need to place odd pieces, then you will have room to work with.

In order to master the game, the technique of sliding a piece just before it sets is invaluable, as well as using both rotation buttons, when available.

Is It Possible To Play Forever?

Normally, players lose because:

1. They can no longer keep up with the increasing speed, or
2. A specific implementation of the game with not very responsive control fails to keep up with itself when the pieces' downward velocity exceeds the maximum sideways velocity the player can apply to a piece.
