Textile Wraps

Learn to Make Your Own Textiles Wrap

I love all the Knitted and Crocheted wraps and shawls on Ravelry but my yarn stash is sadly lacking so I decided to cheer myself up by making a textile wrap.

Wraps are a great way to show off your beautiful textiles skills and you also get the great pleasure of wearing something that no one else owns.

I wrote this tutorial booklet in a way that lets you see exactly how I produced my wrap but at the same time also gives you some ideas about how to design your own individual wrap.

All my textiles books are available as printable digital downloads from Lulu.com.

Make Your Own

In "How to Make a Textile Wrap" I show you how you can make a wrap like the one shown here but I also give you ideas on how you can change it and make something very different.

Melted Fabrics

This wrap isn't actually melted like some of my other pieces but the fabrics are still "melted together" in spirit. "Melted Fabrics" is all about taking old tired fabrics and then mixing them up- using something old, something new, something cheap, something glittery. Embrace the chaos!

Textiles Wrap

Thick and almost sculptural (the wrap, not me!).

Sneaky Peeks

A glimpse into the making of the textiles wrap.

Inspiration

I don't just throw you into the construction side of making this wrap, I take you through my design process. I share the things that inspired me: previous projects, photos of details, an ugly knitted sweater and I suggest areas of inspiration for you too.

Rachel, you are so very talented. I have several of my mother's old dresses (including a dress made from a Sari in 1964) that I would love to find a use for. Can you send me some of your creative brain waves? Will be waiting!

Thank you Mickie :D Sorry I didn't reply sooner.

    Oh crumbs! The pressure!

Have you seen the yarn made out of saris? It's so pretty.

How about a quilt made out of them?

    Do these lenses help?
